Conservative outlets turn on Trump after Jan. 6 revelations

The New York Post and the Wall Street Journal, both controlled by Rupert Murdoch, published harshly critical editorials of former President Donald Trump in the wake of the latest public hearing by the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. #CNN #News

  1. My respect goes out to Ana Navarro, Liz Chaney, and Adam Kinzinger. These are people who have Republican views but stand by ethics and doing what’s right. Instead of political gain.

    1. @James Williams So, when we needed ger, she was there. We must embrace the denocratic Right as the alternative is horrid

  2. If he wins? It shouldn’t get to that. Put him in jail!!! That’s what I want you to fight for!

  3. I’ve said these things way before last Thursday, so I’m glad the media is also picking up the theme… take the party back from the crazies…
I’m ready for some strong Republicans with a moral compass to be in the mix of politics again. Here is what I said a few days ago about some other reports.
We need more conservatives like her (Liz). I know she and I would disagree on a number of issues, but on this issue and in a general way such a conservative is who we need in charge of the grand old party…this is what I’ve said in the past…
Thanks for your report… we need good strong honest conservatives back speaking to the public… Democrats need Republicans, Republicans need Democrats, and both need a few honest independents to keep this democracy thing afloat…here is what I said a few days ago… reminding of a bit of history…
I’m glad for today’s revelations, and pray for more republicans w/ backbone to take their party back from the “crazies”… And I do pray he will come to trial. I do hope he will be prosecuted to the full extent for the crimes committed, but … and this is a big but, I still stand by what I’ve said earlier again and again…Even if Trump is put in Jail and serves time, economic and other issues as in Germany at the time of Hitler (runaway inflation, inability to govern, etc., and so so much more in parallel at present)… REMEMBER THIS:
Hitler was thrown in Jail after his failed Beer Hall Putsch, then in Jail wrote “Mine Kampf,” followed by being elected. The rest is history, we’ve been there and done that. The following quote from Metaxas:
“On January 30, 1933, at noon, Adolf Hitler became the democratically elected chancellor of Germany. The land of Goethe, Schiller, and Bach would now be led by someone who consorted with crazies and criminals, who was often seen carrying a dog whip in public. The Third Reich had begun.”
Metaxas, Eric. Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy (p. 138). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.
For the following, I can only say boy has conservatism changed since those early days.
It was George Santayana who, in his Reason in Common Sense, The Life of Reason, Vol. 1, wrote “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Santayana’s quotation was a slight modification of an Edmund Burke (1729-1797) statement, “Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” Burke was a British Statesman and Philosopher who is generally viewed as the philosophical founder of modern political conservatism.
Another reminder from the “Book of Confession” (Presbyterian Church [USA]) introduction to “The Theological Declaration of Barmen”, these words:
“In January 1933, after frustrating years in which no government in Germany was able to solve problems of economic depression and mass unemployment, Adolph Hitler was named chancellor. By playing on people’s fear of communism and Bolshevism, he was able to persuade the Parliament to allow him to rule by edict. As he consolidated his power, Hitler abolished all political rights and democratic processes: police could detain persons in prison without a trial, search private dwellings without a warrant, seize property, censor publications, tap telephones, and forbid meetings. He soon outlawed all political parties except his own, smashed labor unions, purged universities, replaced a judicial system with his own “People’s Courts,” initiated a systematic terrorizing of Jews, and obtained the support of church leaders allied with or sympathetic to the German Christians.”

Trump lives up to the old old word
    trump·er·y | ˈtrəmp(ə)rē | archaic
    noun (plural trumperies)
attractive articles of little value or use: None of your woolen drapery, nor linen drapery, nor any of your frippery or trumpery. I hate ostentation.
    • practices or beliefs that are superficially or visually appealing but have little real value or worth: he exposed their ideals as trumpery | theatrical trumpery | [as modifier] : that trumpery hope which lets us dupe ourselves.
    adjective
    showy but worthless: trumpery jewelry.
    • delusive or shallow: that trumpery hope which lets us dupe ourselves.
    ORIGIN
late Middle English (denoting trickery): from Old French tromperie, from tromper ‘deceive’.

  4. I’m a DEMACRAT and have opposed Cheney’s before. I don’t agree with Liz Cheney about much. But she’s earned my respect for her honesty and integrity. She should be the Minority Leader (R). Not spinless Kevin McCarthy

    1. @Jimmy Lin lol you don’t know me, you know nothing about my knowledge of the constitution.

    2. I’m very grateful for WHAT she’s doing, but there could be any number of reasons for WHY she’s doing it. Perhaps she’s playing a long game, politically. Perhaps she simply has integrity. Perhaps she & Adam & others s/have stepped up way sooner. I am floored by those who testify against Trump who ALSO lament that his final days were a stain on ALL THAT HE ACCOMPLISHED FOR THE COUNTRY!!! But, whatever. I’m glad they finally drew the line SOMEwhere!! So, here’s a little mind game to try. Think back to the earliest days of the pandemic. Remember in Jan of 2020 when N95 masks suddenly were out of stock everywhere. What if 45 had used his executive powers to force 3M to ramp up production, then had provided 3 free masks to any citizen who wanted them, and had set the example of wearing (and rotating) them. I wonder how many lives wudv bn saved.

  5. Yep shes gonna be in history for this not for anything else, she must continue the great job shes doing

    1. By great Job you man hugging the so called star witness ( think if a judge did that )
or a great job because she already said trump was guilty even before panel was selected ( seems very open minded)
or great job because the star witness claims were mainly hear say ! and just mins after taking the stand the people she said told her etc totally denied them.. yet Cheney and panel didnt want those who denied it , to take the stand – i wonder why? its almost if they only want people who are gonna say what they want to hear.

And just think if ur mum for example who accused of a crime and the panel judging her were people who already said she was guilty! ud rightly think that was a stitch up! and thats because it is

    1. @Joboygbp Edwards Biden never said he was going to get rid of fossil fuels. I do not think he has the power to cease America’s use of fossil fuels. He does have the power to restart the construction of the pipeline to which you referred. You did not include the suggestion Biden restart the pipeline construction. Do you think that restart of the pipeline construction will decrease inflation?

  6. A very wise man, in a very high position, begrudgingly stepped to a podium before Donald J Trump was elected and uttered two words….”he’s UNFIT!” AND HERE WE ARE.

  7. I’m so grateful for Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. But it is stunning that there are only two Republicans in Congress willing to put their ethics and protecting democracy ahead of their personal political ambitions.

    1. That would be great to see,but you got the wrong party Tobi. That is your guy,not ours, but in typical fashion of a Democrat ,you put on to others what you yourselves are doing ,and say it isnt us its them,NO IT ISN’T Tobi.IT IS YOU and only you in your party ..no matter how many ways you try to put it,it always comes back to you, your the ones that do it,your the ones that deny it,and your the ones that profit.Just because you say it,Tobi,DOESN”T MAKE IT SO.

  8. The fact that GOP are slightly starting to say the word baggage instead of criminal means we are all in trouble.

  9. As a progressive that disagrees with her policies, its still a shame if Liz Cheney loses her seat for having integrity. Wyoming voters should be ashamed of themselves.

  10. Voters DID say they didn’t want trump. That’s why 81 million of us voted against him in 2020. His overblown narcissistic ego just wont accept NO for an answer.

    1. yes the same 2 that were picked for jan 6th panel because they had already said trump was guilty before being picked! fancy anyone chosing a panel to judge that all said trump was guilty before they saw any proof! we all know what that is called! arranging all judges that already called a person guilty before taking the committee is something seen in china or russia, if you went to court etc and you knew the sitting judges/panel already said your guilty you’d think it was a stitch up! no one is allowed to cross examine witnesses for the accused either! and the star witness alleged she heard or was told things and those she said told her or over heard denied them…yet the committee dosent call them in to find the truth! just her word is good enough! a real fact finding committee would want truth no matter if it proved guilty or innocent… if you were honest no matter if you think trump guilty or hate him! that is a sham 1 sided committee – and again if you had a shred of honour you know full well if it was you on trial or ur mum sister etc you be out-raged of the panel calling witness that suit the narrative and ignoring calling those who dont

  11. A year and a half in without any new revelations of “inaction” since Jan 6th and just now there’s a slight turn?

  12. Liz Cheney is perhaps the single-most respectable and patriotic Republican in the government today — no doubt several Democrats could learn from her as well. I feel better with her in office and wish very much that she keeps her office and can only hope the people of Wyoming feel the same. I have disagreed with her on a great deal of policy, but she’s also shown that she can grow and improve and do what needs to be done to protect the American People, in particular when it comes to same-sex marriage.

  13. Respect for Liz for having higher standards than most of her party. The fact that her political career is dying over a man that lies as often as he breathes is beyond me. Nevertheless, she is still a Republican and voted with him most of the times. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    1. Dhe may be Republican but I believe she has the interest of our country first and foremost

  14. He invited
    He incited
    They rioted
    Then he denied it
    Even though he’d implied it
    Now he must be indicted.

  15. I may disagree with Cheney and Kinzinger’s policys but I have much respect for them now. They have stood up for truth when everyone in their party was against them. That is brave politically speaking.

  16. A quote from that long ago forgotten RINO: “Character in many ways is everything in leadership. It is made up of many things, but I would say character is really integrity.” Dwight D. Eisenhower
    Liz Cheney embodies that statement!
