Common On His Music, Movies And America’s Double Standard For Black Entertainers

Oscar- and Grammy-winning hip hop artist Common reflects on music today, his pioneering work as a “conscious" artist, equality and feminism in hip hop, and his new song addressing an American double standard that "loves" Black people as entertainers — but does not love them when they face discrimination and police violence. This in-depth discussion is the new installment of “Mavericks with Ari Melber,” a series of interviews with artists, musicians and cultural icons. Aired on 03/02/2021.

  1. I got alot of his music , he one of the last good ones still around this new music alot of it is poison to young minds

  2. I got gigabytes of music and I sing too ghost singing look I’ll sync with the artist on the track and literally give more volume to the song

  3. My neighbors at first they didn’t know.. until I just used the tv audio and then they could actually hear me ..now when I sing they kinda sneak up to listen, now that they know but music saved me

  4. Not karaoke but synchronized when you do a perfect sync it’s like how thunder works when the particles clash and create thunder hence the name #THUNDERCATT

  5. Common is very special.
What a great artist, giving such an insightful interview!
Plus, without any doubt, some of the best which Ari Melber has delivered as an interviewer so far.
    Thank you both!

  6. The content of our character is what matters. Not the color of our skin. When did people forget this?

  7. Jesus loves and cares about you so much so repent so That we all make it to heaven.

Like so more people can see this.
