Because African nations were mostly carved out of colonial mandates with zero regard to tribal or linguistic or religious differences, the entire region is a gigantic powder keg ensuring long-lasting identity politics if there is a representative system, and severe oppression where it is absent.

@Soccercrazyigboman Yes. It is sad. Looking at the continent of Africa: the landscape, rivers, jungles, minerals, most interesting wildlife (you go to any zoo, cinema or watch TV, African animals take centre stage : lions, giraffe, elephants). Should make anyone grateful with so much to see, and make people come together and start working together = progress, without any other nations help.
@Pandasrules it is more complicated than that, most Africa leaders are placed and protected by their “former” colonizers who turn a blind eye as long as they let them take the resources. For example France will literally assassinate any Francophone leaders who go against the “continuation of colonization pact”. Plus unlike the UK Africa was strategically divided so that it had tribes that didn’t like each other (for example forcing northern Ireland and Ireland situation) we will see progress in Africa only after the borders are completely removed or redrawn.
@taf Borders can be re-drawn. But some greedy leaders will stop that. If every nation had a Mandela, that it would be possible. But it looks the situation won’t be undone in this generation. So as you say, a pretty impossible task for now.
