Since your emotions are blinding you to reality, I’m going to lay out the case here. First, all people of Asian descent are not to blame for this pandemic. BUT, the CCP happens to be primarily responsible because it screwed up on a number of fronts, including counterproductive food safety practices, reckless research protocols, tragic health protocols, oppressive and tyrannical governance practices, etc. Since the CCP maintains an iron grip on everything that happens in and out of China and the people of China grant it that privilege, blame for the consequences of this pandemic extends to the Chinese people and country who keep the CCP in power and strive to extend its influence outside of China’s borders. Whether you and China like it or not, China is primarily responsible for this global pandemic.
That said, Trump, Republicans and corporate Democrats in Congress, their financial enablers, and scores of reckless Americans share some of the blame for the spread of the virus in the U.S. since March 2020. Would these people have been a problem in the U.S. if the CCP had prevented COVID-19 from forming in and escaping from China? Absolutely not! That’s why they are not primarily to blame for U.S. deaths. They are secondarily responsible. That said, those who outsourced U.S. manufacturing to China ARE primarily responsible because they left the U.S. vulnerable to this health threat. As far as I’m concerned, this economic treason is a crime worthy of complete impoverishment and imprisonment.
I don’t condone violence against Asian Americans, but I do understand human nature. The American people and rest of the world are going to hold China, its people, and its government accountable for the deaths and massive economic losses that resulted from a pandemic that originated in China. Why? This was an avoidable disaster. Unfortunately, the world will lash out at those they perceive as being of Chinese descent in the same way many Chinese lash out at Westerners for past sins. Stop acting as though this human response is solely relegated to Americans when it never has been. It isn’t and never has been. It is racist to assume otherwise.
If we’re being completely frank here, westerners have a lot of reasons to be resentful toward Asian Americans and Wall Street. So, none of us should be surprised by the political blowback that this pandemic has unleashed in the country. In my humble opinion, free trade and offshoring are a far greater reason for the blowback. Again, I do not condone violence against anyone. Instead, I simply recognize what happens when people are pushed past their limits of tolerance in life.
@Carol Ann Davis Please stop giving into your paranoia. At no point have I advocated attacking innocent Asian-Americans. Instead, I have simply observed that political and economic blowback are a predictable phenomenon that result when one group feels it has been unjustly treated by another group. This sociological response is as applicable to Asian Americans as it is to every other socioeconomic slice of the global community.
Case in point, those who have lost loved ones and their economic security in the world to a virus that originated in China and was mishandled by China will logically want to seek justice by whatever means at their disposal. This is especially true in the face of a U.S. government which refuses to respond as it should to the longstanding economic and national security threats that China has posed over decades. I hold crooked U.S. politicians and robber barons as accountable as I do the thieving mercantilist nations around the world. China merely happens to be the worst culprit.
One final point, if you and the rest of the Asian community outside of China are not equally as resentful of China over this pandemic, you’re fools because China and the CCP pose as much of a threat to you too.
