But at the same time, there are different theories and interpretations of law that lend themselves to one party or the other. By analyzing a judge’s decisions over an extended period of time, it isn’t too hard to glean their respective political leanings, and thus they will be labelled accordingly. As a Peruvian, I thought you would have known that. 😉

    4. Zef Blueberry – You give the president and his supporters too much credit. What is about to happen does not have the subtle nuance that you describe. The president is about to choose a person who has already declared their bias. We Canadians reject the idea that anyone who is elected or appointed to these positions of power would make policy, laws pr interpretations of laws based on their religious beliefs. That is also appalling. Beliefs are little better than superstitions – unprovable. When 75 percent of Americans do not want Roe V Wade revisiting and the minority is allowed, no, feels justified and entitled to impose their superstitious beliefs upon the majority, what good is a democracy?

    5. @Piktor Music It’s truly impressive if Canadians in power (especially as judges) typically don’t allow their biases to influence their decisions. It’s a commendable ideal. I’m a professor, and my students often times are skeptical that I don’t judge papers on the basis of opinions or beliefs—but rather on logic, accuracy, etc. The fact that they are skeptical tells me that in our country people are accustomed to personal opinion trumping objectivity or impartiality, which is of course a bit sad. Clearly we’re screwing ourselves over here in the States—on many levels.

All we have to show for is 200,000+ death toll( our brethren despite being Democrat or Republican), Covid cases still increasing, millions of Americans unemployed, and the president on tape stating the severity of the virus but played it off as a “democrat hoax” and “kung flu” for 6+ months. In the midst of this and more, Republicans are trying to cut the relief funds and Democrats will not budge.
