To this day testing is still a mess, the States are on their own to find PPE and other equipment for their hospitals, many times outbidding each other, and there’s no nation wide quarantine. There’s no leadership, just a clown who wanted to minimize the virus so it didn’t hurt his campaign. Now he de-funds WHO during a global health crisis because he needs a scapegoat. What a disgusting person.

@Brian Daniels The media does accent his bad behavior by making it appear twice as bad, that is true, but shouldn’t we have a president that’s so busy working for the country that he DOESN’T have any bad behavior to accent in the first place? If he spent half the time he spends on attacking the media, having his pep rallies, and golfing, on building up protections for our country and it’s citizens, the news would be all cooperation, instead of every “United” State for itself. And that is the will of our current president.

In the former everything is owned by a handful of families, in the later everything is supposedly owned by the state, but in fact is controlled by a handful of families. Now, Social Democracies on the other hand, are market economies, with social safety nets for the general welfare, regulations to control run away corruption from corporate/financial institutions from controlling the government.
But our democracy has been under attack by the oligarchic corporate heads and wealthiest families, since the Reagan years. It started with the deregulation of Savings and Loans. Those were small financial institutions which supported small businesses, and unions. Get rid of those and you start to erode the wealth of the middle class. I can only surmise from your comment, that you will be happy to live in a fascist state. Good luck with that.

@Mike Albert do people from Europe only arrive at New York? I suspect not. The China shutdown was part of Trump’s silly game with them otherwise why wasn’t Taiwan (who had also had their first cases) shut down as well as everywhere else?
If you’re claiming Trump’s China shutdown was proof he was ahead of the game then why didn’t he shut down all incoming flights? Order screening of all returning Americans? Because he was clueless and out of his depth is why.
@Mike Albert but China wasn’t where the major infections entered the country from. Also nice attempt to alter the timeline but no field hospitals were erected till mid March. A horse and pony show administration that was unprepared, indecisive and dazzled in the headlights.

Not sure how you think things are built, but without planning and preparation nothing happens. I suppose you think the government can snap a finger and building starts. Perhaps your memory is not very good but most of February the MSM was attacking Trump as an alarmist and a xenophobe. They even blamed Trump for Chinese restaurants seeing a reduction in patrons. But perhaps I should not expect much from someone who believes without question everything on MSNBC
@Mike Albert but the major infection influx didn’t come from China so how did banning flights from there help, especially as infections had already appeared elsewhere? Your claim that preparation takes time might have held water except for two things. 1. Just about every other country managed it, especially in Asia, and 2. If Trump was preparing all through February, where was the product? No masks, gowns or ventilators to be seen mid March so WTF was he doing?
