I really enjoyed this interview.
As someone who believes in the existence of the Creator but is skeptical about religion, the last comments struck a cord .
While many of us do not follow these faiths, we expect those who do to practice what they preach and “ put their money where their mouths are “.
When they don’t, it only increases our skepticism, as we recognize them and their leaders as fakes and phonies.

He went home without giving a speech on a night 6 states voted. He’s never done that before. Why did he ignore you all? Did he have another heart attack? What is Bernie hiding?

Mormon “elders” came to my door while this was playing, in the spirit of the podcast I let them go on for 10 minutes. It was like having a freakshow circus arrive on my doorstep. I tried to appreciate the pageantry.
As an athiest who was once a Mormon missionary, I can appreciate your post because this is how I feel whenever I hear any religious person talk about their faith. And when one religious group insults and criticizes other religious groups, it’s like listening to people seriously debate the superiority of superman or batman. They’re all equally delusional.

I enjoyed this conversation very much. I am an ordained baptist minister, raised in white evangelical churches; met my spouse when we were seving as Southern Baptist missionaries in Japan; have an MDiv from a Southern Baptist seminary, and have a PhD in theology. I am well credentialed as an evangelical.
I was so astonished at the viewpoint and courage of Mark Galli when his editorial was published. I want to add to his analysis of the political anger of evangelicals. We’ve seen that kind of anger before. It’s the anger of the privileged when they have to share the power they have taken for granted – and because they take it for granted, refuse to admit that they have power over anyone. For example, Galli says evangelicals are angry because “they” have taken prayer from the schools. Well, how would they feel if instead of deleting prayer, it was mandated that each day of the week a different world religion offered the prayer? I suspect the very same anger & feelings of disenfranchisement. They experience the long-overdue sharing of power as a loss of power, a diminishment, and an unfair, illegitimate diminishment at that, rather than as a righting of the scales.
It is sad that the Evangelical church has been stained by Trump who I believe is the AntiChrist.
I give this man credit for doing what’s right, speaking out against trump, but you don’t get a gold star for doing what’s the “right” thing to do. Especially not when Christians are to blame for this political culture we now have. This is a secular nation built on secular values. Anyone that doesn’t know and understand that is a liar, ignorant, or both. This guy hides his bigotry in his speech, most people miss it, but it burns my ears and infuriated me to no end. GET RELIGION AND RELIGIOUS PEOPLE OUT OF GOVERNMENT!!!

Thanks Chris…This was a great interview. I commend and admire Mark Galli for speaking out to the Trump worshipping Evangelicals. He has restored my faith, as well. I cant understand why these Evangelicals havent held Trump to a higher standard, of accountability? and instead cheer him on, its baffling.
