and some States.,. have no income Taxes.. others rely upon sales taxes.. as stated by the Guest,.
johnbeechy:. Florida is a good example of that. They only charge corporate taxes. None if they are exempt. No personal income tax, no State tax. No wonder Trump changed his address.
Gabriel Zucman’s suggestion of ELIMINATION of the Property Tax is EXCELLENT even though, I would think, that, once most of a mortgage is paid off, the property owner could REFINANCE and thereby lower his Property Tax yet again.
Why is this happening?
Americans take both Democracy, and a strong middle class, for granted. They are both disappearing at an alarming rate, right now. Going back to the days of kings, lords, & serfs.

If you own your home, you are already paying a yearly wealth tax – your property taxes which are based on probably your largest store of money.
Hasn’t this concept been utilized a few years ago by the British when they passed a “Confiscatory” Tax in order to bring into public domain the large estates of the semi-royalty. It certainly is not new.
Wealth tax is not new – the founding fathers had the estate tax specifically to prevent an American aristocracy. Just sayin’…
