Derek Chauvin's defense team argues that George Floyd's opioid addiction and heart condition was the cause of death.

After 11 days, 38 witnesses and dozens of video clips showing the minutes before and after George Floyd died under the knee of Derek Chauvin, the prosecution in the murder trial of the former police officer rested its case Tuesday.
Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in Floyd's death on May 25, 2020.
The prosecution, led by the Minnesota Attorney General's office, called to the stand eyewitnesses, Minneapolis police officers and paramedics, law enforcement experts and a range of medical experts in a bid to prove Floyd died because Chauvin pressed his knee into Chauvin's neck for more than nine minutes.
A bystander video was expected to be a key piece of evidence, but it was just one of several presented by prosecutors in an effort to make jurors feel as if they were there when Floyd died on the street.

Regardless of if he went into cardiac arrest or had a heart attack- it was bc he was in distress bc of derek’s knee in his neck for 9 1/2 damn mins. He was struggling to breathe. I’m sure having a bad heart didn’t help- but he went from being fine while they spoke to him prior to trying to put him into the cop car to not being fine and dying.
Right! I take a medication that makes it difficult for my blood to clot, so if someone shot me I would bleed out faster than average. The defense’s argument would be like saying I didn’t die from being shot, since a healthier person might have survived. That would be ridiculous.
I sure hope this jury doesn’t fall for the defense’s arguments. They have to defend their client and they’re paid well to create doubt.
Defending criminals is the downfall of western civilisation.
Floyd was a heavy drug user and a criminal who held a gun to a pregnant woman’s belly in his past.
Floyd was resisting arrest.
