Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels died in Tennessee of a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83. Known best for The Charlie Daniels Band hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," Daniels spanned genres that included gospel, southern rock, bluegrass and country. Aired on 07/06/2020.

Not Charlie! Anyone but him! First Kenny Rogers passes away a few months back, and now Charlie Daniels? I just found out and I can’t believe he passed away today. He was one of my favorite country artists. He really did play a mean fiddle and I don’t think anyone could play as fast as he could. The Devil Went Down to Georgia is one of my favorites by him. 😢😢 I’ll miss him. RIP Charlie Daniels 10/28/1936 -7/6/2020.

For the Record: The melody for the fiddle parts on “Devil went Down To Georgia” was ripped from the late, legendary fiddler VASSAR CLEMENTS. Vassar was the ultimate Southern Gentleman who never made so much as a peep when Daniels had his only #1 hit using Vassar’s fiddle tune — LONESOME FIDDLE BLUES.
Sorry Charlie… but you should have given Vassar a nod at the very least.
