As portions of the country's economy are set to reopen, the director of the CDC says the U.S. is now on track to have more than 100,000 deaths by June 1. Aired on 5/18/2020.

CDC Estimates More Than 100,000 Deaths By June 1 | Morning Joe | MSNBC
“It will go away at some point.” Yes, YOU will.
@Rick Flair It’s the PERCENTAGE of population tested that is the important metric, not the number of people tested. By this measure, the US lags behind Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Canada, for example. As far as people going back to work, trust me, I lost half my business in March and all in April, and this so-called “massive” government bailout you refer to is but a pittance compared to what I need to pay my monthly bills.
@Rick Flair I don’t know where you live, Rick, but maybe pause for a second and listen to some other opinions here. I live in California. We cannot fully and safely open our economy until we have contact tracing in place. We finally have testing handled. The principle obstacle now is tracing. We’re working on it. And up until about three weeks ago, our testing was still insufficient. And I certainly don’t attribute our getting up to speed in the testing department to Trump, but rather to our state and local government officials.
Zebra Zagadore YOURE WRONG AGAIN. US has the most testing per capita. Far in front of any other country. Stop listening to fake news it is a real thing and the enemy of all of us. They are trying to pull us apart. They’re almost there between. People who want to work VS people who don’t. It’s actually really hard to watch if you can wrap your head around both sides.
Zebra Zagadore I live in Florida where we were suppose to get hit harder than NY and Cali due to our at risk population. We had less deaths and our economy is already open again. YOURE RIGHT I do want to thank local government and our governor desantis for being capable of handling the virus and have us resuming with our lives.
Zebra Zagadore it is really just democratic states withholding power. How can you tell me I can’t sit on the beach. I get if it was closed. But it’s not. Still remain 6 ft apart wear masks. Whatever. These small businesses won’t come back if your lockdown last till August.
With all due respect to America,he is sounding like the announcer in a megaphone at a freak show.
The “two party system” has come to the end of it’s useful life.
@Jon Lenihan I guess you’ve seen the anti trump Republican commercials
@C Lockett No, I haven’t seen any commercials. I don’t believe that the party of industrial polluters and Christian warriors versus the party of Ivy League corporate lawyers, comprises “the marketplace of ideas.”
@Jon Lenihan
The commercial is recent but the movement is old and trump has recently spoken out against them at a rally earlier this year. Take notice of a members name that you probably knew was anti trump that is causing the most controversy inside the White House

@Jon Lenihan this is the ad and his comments

When he says “we’re back” he means it in the same way he used to say “we’re at war with Vietnam”. He’s gonna stay safe while the peasants go risk themselves for his benefit.
That’s EXACTLY what he means…let them eat cake, let the low paid essential workers have at it…trump wants a pork chop.
We are back. The point of the shutdown was to slow the spread so our healthcare system wasn’t overwhelmed. With the exception of NY the rest of America’s healthcare system saw a dramatic decrease. Doctors and nurses are furloughed. This virus is not as bad as experts and the liberal media predicted. Go back to work. Open all businesses. Go outside. No need to wear a mask.
@Oz John It`s absolutely overwhelming! 3 Trump supporters in one day have figured out the copy/paste function on computers. Miracles do happen!
Texas began reopening and every day for 5 days 1,000 people got infected with COVID-19.
In North Carolina, a protest leader wanting NC to be opened protested out in the streets. And got COVID-19.
We went from under 1 million cases, to 1.5 million in a matter of 2 to 3 weeks. We have 1,000 people dying a day from these cases.
He’s willing to say “We’re Back!” just to get the economy running again, and not caring at all about the people who are getting sick.
Yes Fauci needs to go.
Headline on June 1:
“100,000 Plus Americans Killed by Trump”
William Walker Just spoke with a nurse from the local hospital. If someone comes in with the flu they make about 3000 but if they call it covid19 they get 12,000. Just talked to another man who’s uncle died of cancer. But on his death certificate they put covid19. A college buddy of mine is a hospital administrator and he privately verified they were doing this because they were hurting for money because they couldn’t do elective surgeries.
@Raven Hawks There isn’t a Medicare diagnostic code specifically for COVID-19. Using payment rates for similar respiratory conditions, Kaiser estimated the average Medicare payment at $13,297 for a less severe hospitalization and $40,218 for hospitalization in which a patient is treated with a ventilator for at least 96 hours.
Raven Hawks – so how many more deaths have there been this year compared to the same period in previous years?
@Raven Hawks Levels of influenza-like illness (ILI) in the United States remain elevated for the 21st consecutive week—the longest season in recent years—but the disease is on the decline, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said today in its weekly update.
Still, the agency says influenza has caused up to 57,300 deaths and sickened up to 41.3 million people, according to new estimates. And the CDC reported five new flu-related deaths in children, raising the total confirmed this season to 91.
Season length and impact
The 21 straight weeks of elevated outpatient ILI activity is more than any of the past five seasons, including last year, which was particularly severe. From 2013-14 to 2017-18, above-baseline ILI activity stretched for 11 to 20 weeks (in 2014-15), with an average of 16 weeks.
The proportion of outpatient visits for ILI last week was 2.4%, down from 2.8% the week before but still above the baseline of 2.2% Seven of 10 US regions reported ILI at or above their region-specific baselines.
In its latest estimates on flu impact today, the CDC said the disease has sickened from 36 million to 41.3 million people this season through Apr 13, of whom 16.7 million to 19.4 million sought medical care. In addition, the disease has hospitalized 502,000 to 610,000 patients and killed 34,400 to 57,300.
The CDC bases its estimates on its weekly FluView surveillance reports, which summarize key flu activity indicators. The agency has not previously provided in-season estimates.
The estimates of hospitalizations places this season in the same range as the 2012-13, 2014-15, and 2016-17 seasons, all of which were fairly severe. Last season’s year-end estimates neared 1 million flu-related hospitalizations.
The overall hospitalization rate again climbed last week, from 59.9 per 100,000 population the week before to 62.3 per 100,000. The rate among people 65 and older rose from 195.9 per 100,000 to 206.5 per 100,000. The groups with the next-highest rates were adults 50 to 64 years (77.8 per 100,000) and children under 5 years old (71.0 per 100,000).
@Duncan McNeill N.Y.C. Deaths Reach 6 Times the Normal Level, Far More Than Coronavirus Count Suggests
By Josh Katz and Margot Sanger-KatzApril 27, 2020
More than 27,000 New Yorkers have died since March 11 — 20,900 more than would be expected over this period and thousands more than have been captured by official coronavirus death statistics.
As of Sunday, the city had attributed 16,673 deaths to coronavirus, either because people had tested positive for the virus, or because the circumstances of their death meant that city health officials believed the virus to be the most likely cause of death.
But there remains a large gap between the 16,673 figure and the total deaths above typical levels in the last six and a half weeks: more than 4,200 people whose deaths are not captured by the official coronavirus toll………………………………..But even if the current count is perfect, roughly 27,600 New Yorkers have died of all causes since the beginning of the epidemic. That’s about 20,900 more than is typical.
fight through it….vaccine or no vaccine “we are back!” Sounds like a rally cry for idiots.
@Joe Well genious, explain us all how to keep the immune system strong. I asked you once already and you failed miserably educating us all. So give it another shot.
@Joe Better yet, admit you know nothing about how the immune system works.
@Yolanda Denny yes!!!!
Cattle being led to the slaughter
@bob bobben No, he can’t read. This moron Joe only goes by what Hannity and the idiots at fox tell him.
“It will go away. It might not go away.”
“There will be vaccine, there nay not be vaccine.”
– Trump
Trump should write the guide on how to say a whole lot of nothing.
@Jeanette Buckland He didn’t write “Art of the Deal.” It was ghostwritten for him.
@Frank Zappa If it isn`t a picture book i`m sure he hasn`t even gone through it.
there is no spoon
🤯
@Pancho Villa lol
“If it does flare up…we are going to put out the fire”– DUMBBELL
So PITCH FORKS THEN?😒
He should rake the leaves first! ORANGE BUFFOON
@Oz John
Do you have proof to substantiate your claim?
@Standard User no he doesn’t, he’s just parroting those people who say that everything is being written down as covid deaths, which has been shut down, not just by the health experts, but doctors across the country.
Don’t forget to bring the Disinfectants!!!
He could use a rake
He compared to himself to Lincoln right? Someone get a bullet
Large men in dark suites will soon be knocking at your door Bud.!!!
Richard Batchelder bet
@Richard Batchelder
It is very unlikely anyone would react to that.
If it was a guy with the last name of Booth and he was talking about getting his own gun then the reaction may happen. The conspiracy with Booth had several people in it. The others didn’t get their targets.
@Ken Smith ..And THEY were ALL hung…………….
The last thing we want is trump as a martyr.
dump has the body of jabba the hut…and the brains of a slug. So sure, let’s re-elect him! haha
Lmao.. “Dump” 😂😂
@Jem Harper I’m not criticizing genius, I’m stating a fact. Get over it
@Oz John Lmfao
@Oz John BTW i`m no democrat 😛 Still I hate that orange piece of sh*t in the WH.
bob bobben You still blindly follow the liberal media which puts you in the same boat.
He lies again saying he lost friends just like he did about 911.
He did lose a developer friend – but was sure to add publicly that the guy was fat and old, while he was in a coma. Great friend that Trump 🙄
CNN does not lie right?
@Raven Hawks having trouble keeping up with which news sites you’re trolling?
Ashley A talking to people working in hospitals. I work in health care and have contact with them every day. Also spoke with many nurses and not one of them will take the vaccination if they come out with one.
@Raven Hawks really? So they don’t take flu shots either? That’s negligent af. They need to be in a different industry healthcare obviously isn’t for them.
“I LOST FRIENDS”… BULLSH!T THAT CLOWN HAS NO FRIENDS.
@Jeremy Nelson I wonder how much he pays her to stay?
@Jeremy Nelson I’d rather have Rihanna for president if she was born here.
Trump probably didn’t loose any friends.
He made sure they got Hydroxychloroquine & Z-Pak.
@Almihan АИМ Men are genetically sexual. Can’t go against synapses.
If they give him money, he’s their friend
Obama hit the nail on the head in his speech Saturday!
Obama nailed it.
I’m glad about Obama’s speech!
Corrupt obama has no room to talk..
@votes- have consequences You act like Obama is running for president, glad to tell you got to vote for Joe so MAGA!
@taxiuniversum Like Obama nailed the rollout of “Obamacare” ? last time I checked Obama mispalaced Billions and remember Benghazi! Besides numbers look like Trump crushed Covit 19!
“Put it out quickly and efficiently” say that to the 90k+ deaths and all the families affected…TRUMP IS A FAILURE..
Appropriate that you left out the ‘we’ in the quote since there is no on in his circle doing ANYTHING at all and certainly not efficiently. They were stealing PPE to make a quick $. And a poodle breeder led vaccine oversight in the white house (Trump had never heard of him when asked amidst the pandemic)
@david ford Why are people crying about it? We are the one who elected him, now we should deal with it. How about electing this as$ h*&e again.
All happy talk like a child , this president is so clueless, no empathy.
@Jeremy Nelson Uh huh. And it’s a pandemic.
I’ve noticed… Democrats hate optimism… I’m back to work.. you still in your basement.???
@Jan Hall Not really. Get over it. It’s a pandemic! There will be death. We are just too damned big. Which is generally great, btw. Don’t really care what your country did.
@Richard Batchelder lol
@Jeremy Nelson Look at this then. 90,527 deaths divided by a population of 330,000,000 is .00027. A drop in the bucket of our population. Not a drop in the bucket to those families who lost someone but statistically, it is a very, very small percentage of the US population
Listen to him, vaccine or no vaccine, we’re back, to no one having money, no stimulus check as the senate drags its tail to covers its tracks!
This clown truly thinks he’s a king! The arrogance of it al!
@Debbie H fingers crossed
@William Crowley VOTE!!! We just want him GONE GONE GONE….unfortunately, legally is probably good ):
@William Crowley Well let’s see. “maybe the 2nd Amendment types can take care of it” Who was it that said that? I am trying to foment critical thinking and the end of wilful ignorance in America. The US seems to have a lack of one and a lock on the other at the moment.
There is no one left who would have preferred Hillary and I have yet to find a democrat excited about Biden.
You are the arrogant, ignorant hump.
“you fight through it”
but trump, people are losing that fight and dying”
i hate losers”
“I’ve lost friends” . . . just like in the twin towers? . . . . Don the Con Trump being Don the Con . . . never ends.
Dr. Fauci looking like he’s counting to ten every time Cheeto opens his mouth…
we are angry, imagine how angry he must be having been a accomplished as he is and having to undo the damage that trump constantly does
@Kiwi Bico Even fauci said it’s not that bad:
https://youtu.be/dfPlbTOgeFY
So glad to see doctor fauci is finally wearing a mask.
“I lost friends.” Translation: “My golf courses and hotels have lost a ton of money!”
Jake A yes friends named Benjamin and Andrew Jackson
