President Joe Biden’s ambitious day one flurry of executive orders include some of the most progressive immigration reforms seen in decades. Plans that are exciting advocates and are already getting pushback from Republicans. NBC News correspondent and author of The New York Times bestseller “Separated,” Jacob Soboroff, joins MSNBC’s host of “American Voices” Alicia Menendez to discuss the current state of the country’s immigration system and what remains to be seen with Biden’s agenda. Including how he can get his legislation passed and how he will handle reuniting migrant families separated under former President Donald Trump’s “zero-tolerance policy.”» Subscribe to MSNBC:

'Cautious Optimism' Follows Biden’s Progressive Immigration Bill After Decades Of Reform Struggles | MSNBC
Remember: it wasn’t a Muslim ban. That was fake news and they still say it.
@Амања Девеџић …That was a speech in 2015. The context was the rise of ISIS and global terrorism. He was right to be concerned.
The point being made here is that Trump’s 2017 travel ban on countries that support terrorism wasn’t a ban on all Muslims.
Moreover, it was essentially the same ban that Obama (and Biden) had implemented in 2015, along with many other countries.
It’s funny how Democrats and media didn’t see it as a Muslim ban.
@Амања Девеџић If it was a Muslim ban, he could have banned travel from all Muslim countries.
@hugh jorgan It’s funny how conservative Americans are scared of “countries that support terrorism” but do nothing to stop mass shootings and acts of terrorism happening all the time within its own country against its own people by their own citizens. Weird. Maybe instead of travel bans we ban guns?
You must enter all foriegn countries legally, based on the country you wish to enter desire for you to be there. It isn’t your decision, but thanks for your fake support of the leftist narrative.
@Амања Девеџић ..I think it’s fair to say most Democrats/Liberals are also scared of terrorism. But their hate for Trump blinds them, so they’re celebrating the lifting of the ban….just because he put it in place.
Of course, those are the same people who don’t realize Obama had a similar ban, which is something MSNNC and CNN never add to their ridiculous stories on Trump’s “Muslim Ban”.
I agree with you that we need to do far more to deal with domestic terrorists. I have very little confidence that will occur under the new Administration, despite their talk.
dare everyone to read D Rubins book with a open mind
Sell your crap somewhere else
Rave Dubin is the big dumm
“read with an open mind” ==> “throw reason and empathy out the window and give in to blind nationalism”
Lmfao, yeah this will work out….
Sky News Australia Joe Biden’s first term is really the “third term of Barack O bama”
@A.C. A. my family immigrated to America during the nazi invasion of our homeland Poland. We had to and gladly went through the immigration process like everyone else.
Those who jumped the border illegally may have done so for morally right reasons but it’s also immoral to reward them for breaking the law.
It tells people you are ok with them even if they break the law and no repercussions would happen if they just bypassed our immigration system entirely and is also telling people we don’t have secure borders anyone can get in.
Thats both dangerous to this country and unfair to those of us who went through even in a time of turmoil the proper process like everyone else.
@HoldXToRespawn I respect your story and your stance. I also have empathy for people seeking asylum.
@A.C. A. people seeking asylum can go through the process like everyone else. We did it what makes them so special?. I have empathy also, but where we differ is i have empathy for this country’s people and those of us who did it properly. But I respect your right to your own opinion and views.
@HoldXToRespawn Thank you❤️ I don’t think of them as “special”, more like desperate. My ancestors came from all over, Sweden, Poland, Ireland ect and I don’t know if it was legal or not.
@A.C. A. no problem. I apologize my English is terrible.
my family knew that if we did not pass the immigration process we would not survive but we understand its necessity. German spies were everywhere back then, and we feared the german S.S. most of us were being hunted down by use of hunting parties and dogs. The biggest fear was a German spy killing us in America. Its the immigration process that stopped that from happening. We understand the cost of putting up a wall. But we understand that there is only so many you can help and some of our family were sent back home to the care of the allies.
The point is We let germans into our country. They immigrated some not we still let them in anyway. They took our schools first then our radio. Next thing we know we are being told to get on train we need re-education because our way of thinking was unclean. We learned the truth to little to late.
There is a saying in my family “There are wolves that will hide amongst crying sheep. Be careful who you let into your home”. I think it applies here.
We knew the risk and we understood that we may get turned away. We also understood why and do not blame anyone for having to go through the process. Until the world stops fighting itself this kind of thing will never end.
The problem with believing everybody who cries for help is every once in a while you’re going to run into someone who’s doing it just to get you close enough to hurt you. If they are illegal no one knows they are here until its too late.
More bull sh#t…
The biggest shame is thinking the politicians are so important. F’em all!
“Cautious optimism” good job, with a stroke of his handlers hands pen your potatoe has ended an estimated 400k jobs, 52k in an immediate loss

If you look closely You may be able to see Homeless People outside His window lol
Yes the past four years have been terrible. And more people are homeless. Or are you saying that in biden’s first four or five days in office, he hasn’t solved the homeless problem?
Welcome mom and dad for the anchor babies child welfare food stamps on the rise in this Country.

IMPEACH BIDEN!
You sound like a F’in liberal
NOTHING OPTIMISTIC ABOUT ANY OF THIS.
W ow. Thanks Joe. Helping us Americans a lot!!!
“50% of the residents are Latinx..” How about acknowledging the reality most of them don’t want to be called Latinx?
THANK YOU finally someone understands that we don’t want to be called that!
WTF is LatinX? Never heard of it. I sure wouldn’t use it. Of course I won’t use “African American” either.
Us White people want to be called European Americans moving forward.
@Jaime Jimenez huh?
All of my Hispanic friends are very comfortable being called Latinos and latinas. You hear it every day on Televisa and it is in all of the song lyrics.
What is up?
If they didn’t want to be separated from their families, they shouldn’t have migrated here illegally.
Now you have done it!!!! You are making sense! Democrates don’t want to look that way. Congradulations
@Sheree Hudnall you don’t understand a lot of those kids are not getting separated, they are coming alone or being taken by random adults who lie and claim they’re the parents to get more priority status. And there are thousands of kids that come unaccompanied and that’s wha both sides don’t know!
@Jaime Jimenez
I agree. These children are being used, not helped. Don’t know the answer to that. The cultures are very different than ours. The women have children year after year. They cannot feed the ones they got. Maybe they are selling them? More children a family has the more food stamps they get. Sometimes well over a thousand a month.
Oh shuddd uppp, your ancestors dragged their kids here knowing natives were killing them on site but they came anyway
