FRANKLY SPEAKING ………

“ Made in Dominica”

(Outlines of a National Manufacturing Strategy. Part 1.)

Focus.

There are critical external forces impacting on the emergence of a vibrant manufacturing sector in Dominica. These include positive trends such as the ease of international migration of capital and technology to areas of highest profit margin and opportunities for expanding negotiated regional and international market access. True, also, one needs to contend with such negative factors as uneven trading arrangements, increasingly demanding health and safety standards and the upward spiraling cost of transportation, due to rising fuel prices.

Advocates for the constitutional rule of law in Dominica had an excellent day before the appeal court

lennox_lintonI think advocates for the constitutional rule of law in Dominica had an excellent day before the appeal court today in the matter of reviewing the Gertel Thom ruling against the foreign allegiance disqualification of Skerrit and his Education Minister. Counsel for the appellants, Douglas Mendes, addressed the panel of three for three and a half hours and in my view superbly nailed the major grounds of appeal.

And how exactly we are going to “show that we can put our POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS and other differences aside

And how exactly we are going to “show that we can put our POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS and other differences aside and come together as a people to move our country forward in a UNITED WAY”? By having a day of unity dressed in white? What happens after the day we unite in white? Will we outlaw dissent? Will we make criticism of our stewardship illegal? Official upset by Shillingford’s omission from Windies side

AS WE LEFT AUGUST 2012

SteinbergI keep referencing my book “An Unasuming Love: Black Memory, A Traveloguer And Cricket” because it contains material that needs reflecting on (for those who still care about reflection, who have the time). As we left August, I got the feeling that our Emancipation observances had slipped under the weight and propagation of storm and hurricane news. Just thought – in keeping with Emancipation Month — I’d let you know that slavery as experience, was still relevant at the United Nations as recently as March 2012. What follows however, is not drawn from a 2012 plenary, but based on a 2008 meeting of the United Nations.

OBAMA MOTHER BLACK

Thoughts giving rise to chapter 7 in my 2011 publication titled “An Unassuming Love” must’ve heard and seen their cousins, sisters, brothers or friends crossing mind. Imagine thoughts smelling thoughts, tasting thoughts — just touching each other, asking about their root in emotions and patterns of emotion. Thoughts have histories — they reach back intuitively only to source a semblance of truth or a truth itself that stuns the thinker.
