Roseau, Dominica – September 1, 2008……… A major component of the Government’s Public Sector Reform Strategy- the Public Administration Modernisation component- has entered a critical phase  with the launching last Friday of  the first ever government website-  www.dominica.gov.dm.

Roseau, Dominica – September 1, 2008………Minister for National Security, Immigration and Labour, Hon. Rayburn Blackmoore will participate in the 8^th Conference of the Defence Ministers of the Americas (CDMA), which will be held from September 2^nd to September 6^th 2008 in Banff, Canada.

The theme for the 2008 Conference is “Hemispheric, Regional and Sub-regional Defence and Security Enhancement: Confidence Building through Cooperation and Collaboration”. The agenda  to be developed in consultation with CDMA countries and with regional experts, will focus on the increasing convergence of hemispheric security and defence issues  and the resultant need to cooperate more closely in order to achieve the goals of security, democratic development and prosperity.

Roseau, Dominica – August 29, 2008……… The Government of Dominica’s massive road building programme shows no sign of slowing down following the signing of a contract recently for the first phase of the Canefield to Melville Hall Road.

Speaking at the contract signing ceremony last week, Minister for Public Works and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Ambrose George explained that the rehabilitation of the Canefield to Melville Hall Road will be undertaken in two phases.

Roseau, Dominica – August 26, 2008……..Parliamentary Representative for the Portsmouth Constituency and Minister for Tourism, Hon. Ian Douglas, is pleased with  proposals in a draft report  on the future development of the town of Portsmouth prepared by the Portsmouth Citizens Planning Commission.

Hon. Ian Douglas made the statement last week during a Town Hall Meeting between the citizens of the Portsmouth community and the members of the Portsmouth Citizens Planning Commission.

After years of listening to ideas and suggestions from various groups and individuals about the needs of Portsmouth, Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt suggested that all those ideas should be collated and a development plan for the Town be prepared.

Roseau, Dominica – August 25, 2008………Commissioner of Police, Mr.                   Matthias Lestrade has told granduands of a “Community Policing -Train the Trainers Workshop 2008” of their responsibility to the community following the conclusion of a ten (10) day workshop.

Community Policing is a collaborative effort between the police and the community that seeks to identify and solve community problems.
