CONSTRUCTION WORKS ON SEGMENT 10 OF WAITUKUBULI NATIONAL TRAIL PROJECT NOW UNDERWAY

Roseau, Dominica – December 16, 2009 ………..  The Waitukubuli National Trail Project has reached an important stage with the resumption of Construction Works. Trail Construction works have begun on segment ten (10) Colihaut Heights to Syndicate.

A number of persons from Colihaut, Dublanc, Bioche and the environs started construction work on Monday, December 14th.

Construction Works began today, Wednesday, December 16th on segment one (1) – Scotts Head to Soufriere. Persons from the villages of Scotts Head, Soufriere, Gallion, Point Michel and the environs within  the vicinity of Segment One(1) have been recruited to work on the trail.

Roseau, Dominica – December 15, 2009 ……..In recognition of the role the agricultural sector plays  in maintaining an adequate level of food security and its role in supporting and sustaining the lives of citizens in the rural areas, the Government of Dominica has made an initial amount of $2 million  available to the AID Bank for lending to farmers.

DOMINICA GOVERNMENT GRANTS LICENSE TO SISSEROU WATER INC

Roseau, Dominica – December 15, 2009 ……..In a tangible demonstration of its commitment to carefully utilize Dominica’s water resource for generating income and job opportunities for the people of Dominica, the Government of Dominica has signed a license with Sisserou Water Inc for the export of Dominica’s water.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Financial Centre last month, was attended by Minister for Public Utilities, Energy and Ports, Hon. Charles Savarin, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Lucien Blackmoore, a Director of Sisserou Water, Mr. Atherton Martin and General Manager of DOWASCO, Mr. Bernard Etinoff.

DOMINICA GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES PROGRAMME TO PROVIDE FREE COOKING GAS, STOVES AND COOKWARE

Social and Humanitarian component of PetroCaribe agreement set to bring benefits to elderly and the needy

lpg_programme_launch_pm_hands_over_cylinder_dec_2009.jpgRoseau, Dominica – December 11, 2009 ……..The decision of Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit to sign on to the PetroCaribe agreement in 2005 is continuing to bring benefits to the Dominican people. 

In partnership with PDV Caribe Dominica Limited, the Government of Dominica on Tuesday launched a programme to provide liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the elderly and the needy in Dominica free of cost.

According to Minister for Community Development, Culture, Gender Affairs and Information, Hon. Loreen Bannis-Roberts, under the programme, seventeen (17) centenarians will receive cooking gas free of cost. Four (4) centenarians will each receive a stove, again free of charge.

to our Party the mandate to govern this country for another five (5) years.
We were satisfied that the decision you took was based on the fact that you were
pleased with the results we had delivered to you during our first five (5) years in office.
We accepted the responsibilities of that mandate with humility, and immediately
continued the task of bringing development to our beloved Dominica and caring for you
in the manner we had been demonstrating.
