Private ownership of machine guns made after 1986 is banned by federal law! All pre-1986 automatic weapons must be registered with the ATF and require extensive background checks!!
Long gun registry was even eliminated in Canada because not a single instance of tracing the ownership of a gun was an important component of solving a murder caused by a gun.
The ban on magazines holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition had no measurable effect on crime rates.

These changes affect non-U.S. citizens. If you’re not a U.S. citizen, then what right to you have to live off the hard-working U.S. taxpayer? I don’t care what race or nationality you are. I”ll make exceptions for people fleeing persecution. But I don’t want to pay to support a non-amnesty case.

Not even saying I disagree, but poverty is a relative position and has existed in every country/civilization throughout time. As far as history shows, you cannot rid a place of poverty.

You cannot get to higher needs until you have the basic ones covered , anywhere …. therefore , immigrants will seek countries where this is most likely , especially if they’re from places with brutal regimes and corrupt governments that demand absolute loyalty , obedience and compliance . From my own experience , I’d say most immigrants possess a far greater work ethic than those that are actual born citizens .

@mizzmolly you think immigrants caused your tax increase? They didn’t; it was the new tax bill. They aren’t coming here to live off of us. That’s the same lie told about black women being so-called “welfare queens”. And, if employers pay a living wage people could afford to buy food. What does it say about America that someone can still be homeless and starving while working 40 hours per week?
@Alexis Mitchell – Where are you getting that from? I said absolutely nothing about immigrants or anyone on benefits causing my taxes to go up, and only an uneducated person would think such a thing. That represents a small part of the budget. What I said was that I’m even more passionate about the issue now that my taxes have gone up.
The “living wage” issue usually involves people who are in minimum-wage jobs such as fast-food workers. Historically those jobs have been filled by high school and college kids, not people trying to support entire families. And those wages are dictated by the market and skill level, not who is in those jobs. But that’s another area where we see a large number of immigrants with families working. If you’re going to come to the U.S., then use it to your benefit and make the most of the opportunities you’re now exposed to. Don’t expect to continue to work and fast food and make more money simply because you need more money.
Alexis, they haven’t paid into the system like people who’ve been here and worked for years. Many receive these benefits the minute the come into the country. They haven’t put anything, or have put very little, into the system.
I read an article about a Sudanese community on the East Coast (I can’t remember the location exactly). The local government says it’s practically wiped out because as more Sudanese move to that town, the more people need housing and food assistance. Local government officials are trying to get new immigrants to move nearby so that benefits can be spread out and the burden not have to be absorbed just by one community.
@mizzmolly I’m sure you know fast food restaurants aren’t the only establishments not paying enough. Additionally, in general most school kids don’t work full-time jobs. If so, it’s to support themselves. Any person spending a third of their day working should be able to afford food. Period. In actuality, programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and Section 8 are subsidizing companies, because it allows them under pay employees. Legal immigrants must typically work as a condition of their ability to stay here. We all know people can’t stay on these programs indefinitely any way. We can give welfare to multi-billion dollar corporations (that evade taxes) and farmers affected by the trade war but are upset with feeding our fellow human beings?

They increase regulations and taxes on companies, until the companies move to over seas where they cause even more pollution. Trump wants immigrants to come with wealth just like he came into the world with wealth. His memory is gone, he forgets his family came to America with little to nothing with his Grandfather fleeing military service in Bavaria. Maybe this policy should be applied to his ancestors and send him back.
When my father and his father came over here from Europe in 1912 they had to prove they could support themselves!!! That was the rule for decades!!! So why do I as a taxpayer have to shell out for welfare for immigrants – legal and illegal – when I’m having a hard time making ends meet for my family???!!!
