Capitol police officer: Pence was only brave one day

Staff Sargent Aquilino Gonnell of the Capitol police has been at the January 6 hearings in person. He says that while former Vice President Mike Pence was courageous in doing his job on January 6, 2021, he did not see that courage before or after that day. #CNN #News

    1. @Golf Fanatic Request: Please keep this sentiment and rhetoric at the top of your chirp-list until the midterms? Thank you!🤣😂😅🤣😆🤣😂😆😅😄🤣

    2. No he did not as he knew after knowing what Trump wanted he could not do but if someone in the Conservative right would say yes, he would have done it.

    3. @Golf FanaticBut why? Please keep on and on about January 6th. It’s exactly what everyone wants to hear and talk about….at least until the mid-terms 🤣😅😂🤣

    1. @Michael Blumenreich Yup Karma is ripping him apart now piece by piece erasing any of his good deeds he can’t even take to the grace now with out his trial by combat stench of failure and and easing him out of histories existence like he never was there at 911

    2. @Frank Waldeck Stop crying are those Maga Tears 😭 they won’t help you everybody knows the cat is finally out of the bag and justice is coming

  1. Was he really that brave? Speaking a mildly worded “no” when asked to destroy democracy is clearing the lowest bar possible in politics. The bar is practically glued to the floor.

    1. @cjmarshall0221 I do agree, Pence did do the right thing when it mattered, but he HAD to or he could have faced charges.

    2. @beobe99 Very true. And it’s definitely something to keep in mind. Still, with all the extensive pressure he was experiencing – including facing the possibility of dying at the hands of the mob – I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in this matter.

    3. @cjmarshall0221 His bravery was in not leaving the parking garage. He knew that if he did, the mob would win and he couldn’t allow that. By staying, he was able to complete the certification as required. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened.

    4. @Golf Fanatic Oh I agree. I was very impressed when – despite the mob howling for his head – he refused to leave with the Secret Service. Instead, realizing it was his duty, Pence stayed until the electoral votes were certified. That’s why he goes up in my opinion, because he displayed courage where it really counted.

  2. All this “Pence is a hero” stuff is OK but I think he was doing it primarily for himself and how it would look. I don’t believe he gave a damn about democracy or he would’ve come forward before. That’s the sad part about all these people now coming forward with stuff on trump. They were playing both sides…” If he becomes president again I’m Ok, if he loses the next election, I’ll look like a good guy”🙄

    1. Good call. He probably thought Trump would be out by 2018 by Constitutional abridgement & he could have had his acceptance speech prepared. Bet he may have repeated “President Pence” in front of mirror on occasion.

    2. A Hero from his group of Criminals Cowards & Traitors ! Not saying much about little Mikey

  3. Well said. Brave for one day, but not giving investigators what they need to prosecute is in the end cowardice.

    1. @MDM you are right. Christy, I’m on the fence about him, Newt Gingrich would have been a 1000 per cent yes man, PENCE stood by the Con from the campaign to Jan 6.

  4. Yes officer, I wondered why he said nothing when he knew. Thank you. Also, you bring bring to light a perspective that you and the other officers were fighting so they could escape.

  5. Don’t ever doubt that if pence could have found a way that benefitted him…he would have done so…remember also that he was in charge of the covid response team

  6. I totally agree with Officer Gonell, The capital police fought for over 3 hours, where was the JUSTICE for them. It blows my mind that certain people knew what was going to happen and no one came forward. Instead the officers put there lives on the line for some very corrupt people. The only think I can say is thank god for great men and women in that force.

    1. @Nes From The West (Never Ending Stories) “The Rapper” man if you believe Jim you are crazy go look the story up about how turned blind eye on the sexual abuse those kids took on the OSU wrestling team where he helped coach .Joe Po. Got fired for it at Penn State

    2. @Nes From The West (Never Ending Stories) “The Rapper” when the Privileged does wrong they get away with it

  7. I am a strong Democratic man and how anyone can actually think that voting for Trump or his insurrectionists and traitors is reasonable is unbelievable!!!

  8. Gonell is correct. After watching the hearing yesterday, I asked myself: Why was Mike Pence consulting so many people about what he can legally do on the 6th. I understand if he asked: ‘what am I supposed to do on the 6th.’ However, he tried his best to find a loophole to overturn the election. He was clearly planning to do so if he could get away with it. While he should be commended for doing his job, he was willing to entertain the notion of disenfranchising millions of Americans, just to keep TFG in power.

    1. @Speech Data I will not vote for Pence either. There are a few Republicans I would vote but I doubt they will run.

    2. True. Someone at Pences level, lacking the ethics to know it was wrong without asking anyone, is problematic.

  9. Pence could have at least submitted written answers to the committee. Not doing anything under oath is craven. Trump put his family in danger and Pence still won’t try and hold him accountable. Liz Cheney has courage. Pence has an instinct for self preservation.

  10. This man comments are the best, most clear thinking I have heard so far. Everyone in the whitehouse has a duty to fulfill to the constitution, not to pamper and pander to DT. Those who did not fulfill that duty should be held accountable just as the police officers would be if they had not fulfilled their duty. Its s simple as that.

    1. Start with Loudermilk and the other representatives who are trying to lie their way out of responsibility.

  11. EXCTALLY!!! The officer has said it brilliantly! Where was he during those 5 years of total madness which they, now are telling us??? ONE Day in five years of agreeing with the man! Very calculating! Bet, he’s running 2024!!

    1. You are correct officer why are all these cronies coming forward now its to late you let this corrupt man do all this damage for 4 years you all need to serve prison time too. Because all of you could have gotten together and went to the democrats or who ever and talked up but no you all love money and power and both will take you to hell.

  12. i agree with this officer completely! there were so many others who were silent for so long! why could they not come forward long before now?? SMH!!!

  13. Officer Gonell speaks the truth. I totally agree w his speech. I’ve felt the same way myself. Pence had a minute of bravery this whole time. The last 5 yrs, total cowardess for not standing up to trump. Well spoken officer, you’re one of J6 heroes.
