A Calgary woman is out hundreds after purchasing a gift card only to find out it had no value when she first tried to use it.

  1. The scammers are getting worse and worse as technology gets better. It really makes me worry as AI and Robotics improve and become more powerful and sophisticated…there will be the scammers, criminals and gangs using this technology for nefarious purposes.

  2. Scammers put their cards at the front. Always take your gift card from the middle of the stack. Check to see if the scratchable part of the gift card looks crooked or wonky.

  3. Very scary. I bought $5000 Airbnb gift cards last year when there was a 15000 point promotion per $100. And routinely buy a $1000 in uber gift cards when they are on sale at any loblaws store. I would complain to shoppers about this fraud. Unfortunate for this lady. But it can happen to anyone.

  4. Give this woman her money back😤. Our world is filled to the brim with lousy scammers. That’s the price of digital this and digital that. Use cash!
