I’m British and 29 years old. I don’t have any strong feelings towards to monarchy, but I think it should die off gradually. It depends on what the monarch wants and what the people want. Currently, it seems the people of Britain want the monarch and the monarch wants to exist, so I’m not gonna throw a fuss over it
@Andrew Bailey it could be or it could be because thankfully many don’t agree with sorm medieval system
@keyser soze Paris. City of love. That’s all
She was right then she decided she wanted power so she changed her mind
She likes to cosplay as Margaret Thatcher I quote Thatcher You turn if you want to
And then she became a hypocrite.
@Bill Zardus Did she say she was a lesbian? Is she a vegan? That is something that ACTUALLY matters. Not whether her gender or sexual orientation.
@kay armstrong nope
Not being A Brit, my opinion doesn’t matter. But I don’t understand why it exists in the government. For heritage, let them have it, but have no govern, tax payer burden or special protection under the law. For instance, Andrew should have been and would have prosecuted if not royal.
@Phineus Ehem, Epstein.
For heritage? Uhhhhhhhhhhh
@Heart Of Darkness The religious affiliation of a monarch in a kingdom with a national church of which he/she is titular head is very much a political matter. One example, James II tried to use ancient customs and decisions from courts to circumvent the barring of Catholics from serving as army officers contrary to the Test Act. Parliament saw that as interfering.
@sea monsterYes, on reflection I think you’re right. In fact I’m sure of it.
Christ, I don’t say that very often. Not on Comments at any rate.
Monarchy is glorious. God Save The King.
Speaking as a UK citizen, what a politician says changes hourly let alone after decades. Somebody sneezing can change what comes out of a politicians mouth, they say whatever will get them what they want at that particular moment. Unfortunately there honestly isn’t a single one of them in the UK or elsewhere I’d ever trust, especially not the current lot in office in London or Edinburgh. The amount of hot air that comes out of their gobs rivals the amount of pollution out of China for the negative effects on climate change. As my granny used to say proof is in the pudding, and a politicians metaphorical pudding is usually so rancid it could be mistaken for nuclear waste.
@Patrick Cornfield Opportunism, hypocrisy, facade are inseparable from politics, but lately the limits are really being tested. Not just in the UK. Turbulent times in an unprecedented geopolitical reordering process contribute to drama and unusual policy shifts.
With the dust settling I think voters will prefer knowledgeable candidates with solid principles to guide the transformative power of the coming strong economic rebound, to lead in a new chapter of prosperity and challenges.
It’s better than the alternative of authoritarian rulers like Putin or Xi. In a democracy, politicians can change their minds but they will be held accountable through checks and balances. Again a much better alternative to authoritarians.
Trouble is caused by unthinking people who carelessly throw away ageless ideals as if they were old and outworn machinery. They would have religion thrown aside, morality in personal and public life made meaningless. Honesty counted as foolishness, and self-interest set up instead of self-restraint.
HM Queen Elizabeth II, 1957.
Well said.
She’s absolutely right. I wish we stop our association with the British crown. I’m Canadian.
@snow 8 lies
@snow 8 huh?
Traitor
@Birch Tree yes.
Politicians, Ruling Class people are always funny in their thought and speeches. Priceless Timeless Video!
May the queen Rest In Peace. Citizen of a country can elect to have the government they wish to have. That being said I believe money could be spent better in other parts of society. I think if it’s a choice to fund a monarchy or feed a child? I would choose the child. In a country that pays for servants, guards , maintenance and has poverty or citizens in need . Is a country that doesn’t make sense to me. If all your citizens are doing well? Then by all means play palace all you want.
Traditional historical accounts of the origin of the Scottish kingdom states that the Scots founded the early kingdom of Dal Riata in western Scotland having migrated there form north eastern Antrim, Ireland. In the process they displaced a native Pictish or British people from an area roughly equivalent to modern Argyll. Later, in the mid 9th century, these Scots of Dal Riata took over the Pictish kingdom of eastern Scotland to form the united kingdom of Alba, later to become known as Scotland. To the classical authors of late antiquity, the peoples of Ireland were Scotti, probably a derogatory term meaning something like ‘pirates’. The name was used by early medieval writers in Latin for all speakers of Gaelic, whether in Ireland or Scotland. Much later the usage became associated exclusively with the peoples of Scotland, whether speakers of Gaelic or not. You know Tories always valued the Anglican faith and the United Kingdom of Great Britain has never been any more United, than the United States.
The problem is, the money being gotten from shared control of royal land under the government would be diminished, and they will in turn become private land of theirs, thus if so mean one thing only, losing a golden goose, huge revenues will by that time shifted purely into ‘former’ royal, and don’t forget about money that received from tourism, you can’t get those boons of money without paying some of expense, and then they are the ultimate representative in diplomatic affair that doing better job than any ordinary diplomat could do since they have immense prestige and legitimacy.
Old people vote, old people love traditions. That is the simple explanation for why Liz Truss changed her views.
@Mio Chan if you don’t know the difference between communism and socialism then you don’t belong in this discussion
Truss just said look lizzie in this town only one lizzie can rule
Queen Lizzie :- okay *dies*
@Just A Guy Production Liberal? Bernie Sanders??? Ok, lets compare both the ideologies these 2 people practice
Liberalism: Freedom of the individiaul, freeing up the market, small government and privatisation.
Sanders: Wants universal healthcare, wants to tighten regulations on firearms, lower the minimum wage, wants workplace democracy and for the “Nordic model” applied to America.
See how the 2 differ. I would be surprised if u can’t considering that the USA was founded on classical liberalism. TBH the fact that you even COMPARED sanders to a liberal is shocking.
@Ollie and what’s so bad about putting regulations on firearms, raising minimum wage, and giving healthcare to all? You sound like a Libertarian, not a liberal. Stop listening to Joe Rogan and stop watching Penn & Teller
Then she shook the queen’s hand and in a few days, the queen was gone. Time for her to shake the king’s hand.

Actually, quite bizarre.
The very Prime Minister who was the last person to formally meet the Queen and then help preside over her funeral days later, was in fact a Republican as a teenager.
In Australia and Great Britain a Republican IS NOT the same as the U.S.A. version of political right wing party.

Jealousy
@DakMyCat no, bewilderment.
Liz Truss: Abolish the monarchy!
Queen: Okay! *dies*
Yes it is fantastic that she got in
I’m a British citizen and nobody asked my vote, so where did they get these BS numbers?
You are a subject not a citizen.
It’s called representative sampling and polling
@Damir Kozlica lol, that’s a stunning realisation
Your comment is a perfect example why not everyone is intelligent enough to vote
On sept6 2022, Liz truss met queen in queen balmoral castle , both women not wear surgical mask.
On sept8 2022, queen suddenly died without telling people why.
She stands with good vs evil. Evil gives her money and fame so she stands by evil
I like having a monarch, but I suppose it’s strange, especially viewed from outside. Having a dreary little tune about how wonderful the king is as our national anthem is odd, too.
God save him, though.
It is definitely a age and educational thing, younger people don’t see the point of a privileged biased medieval monachy.👍 the trend will only contine definitely as people have access to educational material to explain why the monachy should be abolished.
One cant say they regret saying to abolish the monachy, when they want to still hold the values of opportunity, equality, democracy etc, things the monachy are not👍 i believe liz said she regrets saying that, because she obviously needed the royalist to help vote her in to be pm, i bet she will be one of possibly many who will help abolish the monachy 👍
Uk with monarchy..
Tourist comes to britain to see king Charles.
Uk without monarchy…
Tourist comes to
Britain to see Boris Johnson.
Look. I know there are a lot of people who are not happy about the monarchy in the past, but it’s the future that we should all concerned about.
Personally for me it’s all about the Brexit experience again or even worst.
Just look at the present in terms of the respect that the Queen had within the UK and abroad.
The Corona virus lockdown brought nothing but boredom to Central London.
Without tourism coming to Central London. It will get pretty boring around here. Resulting in loss of heavy income.
And another thing.
All those countries that abolished their kings and queens. With proper evidence, what is the real situation in those countries.
So those people who are out jumping the guns and asking for a Monarchxit. Think twice before you speak
This woman is a threat . Imagine she want to abolished the monarchy before and now she is appointed to be prime minister , she didn’t deserve the position that given by the monarch . She maybe destroyed the monarch in the following days.
