A court case that will decide the future of the UK and the EU: A legal challenge to Brexit argued that Theresa May cannot trigger Article 50 without MPs voting on the issue. The High Court ruled in favour of that challenge. Now the Government is appealing to the Supreme Court. Watch live on Sky News.

This is ridiculous, pm resigns cause the result wasn’t what he wanted. Our
next pm also didn’t want the result and now we’re overturning democracy. We
need an app to replace politicians, if McDonald’s can replace cashiers with
machines we should be able to replace these useless twats.
Well an world ruled by smart hackers is not bettter.
Satakarnak use the new technology for bit coin, if it’s written properly it
could work. Security is always an issue but I’d rather take my chances with
a nations choices than a vote by a small group of out of touch elites.
Please, it swung by only a 2% margin. Lib-Dems pulled ahead too just
recently in the Richmond by-election against a hard Brexit.
if they win this, it means any vote that dont go the way they want, will
simply say ok never mind we wont go with the wish of the people.
That is the reason UKIP exists. So that does not happen.
Why are people even shocked by this? Democracy is an illusion. I thought
most people would have figured this out by now
the U.K is not a Democracy
Exactly
just watch the video
Is that a sean lock in disguise in the background..
Jesus H Christ. First 5 minutes and I have been bombarded with 1 Million
P’s, E’s and R’s. EEEEEEEEEEEE. PPPPPPPPPPP. RRRRRRRRRR. . Get your words
out Man…..
When we joined it was to trade in European country’s, nothing was mentioned
at that time to changing our laws, rules and regulations, when we join, had
there been I don’t think we would have joined, and the Government new that,
at the time it was put to the people.
Mind all those laws, rules and regulations are voted on by elected MEP’s
hun. x 🙂
Is this really the best stuttering argument that could be bought for loadsa
money?
This court action if agreed is solely in the hope that the MP’s will not
vote for triggering article 50 at all.
most deals with eu were ratified by ministers from the elected goverment so
called royal perogative same was used.should be able to trigger article 50
see whats on the table then discuss it in parliment.whats the problem?like
wasting much needed money same as all the so called benifits of hard
working migrants never got invested on impacted uk comunnities like exra
services to cope etc.
They think by putting off brevity we will all forget what we voted for how
dare they. This woman who brought it to court is not just doing this on her
own she is backed by the government. And we don’t want the single market
How much is this costing the tax payer ? what a waste of money, the normal
people of the UK voted to get out of the corrupt Eu so that’s what we
should abide by .
“impartially”…… hmmmm
I can’t believe I just sat through two hours of this… it was fascinating
actually seeing how things work at the top levels. It was also good to see
a guy saying… hey the people’s opinion matters. It really is top level
debate… even though I don’t understand all the laws
Cannot continue watching. This is just more mental, pseudo a legal
m*******tion of citizens who voted OUT!
This is quite troubling. I am in the USA and am planning to return to
London after a long stay here. I am flabbergasted that this is even being
questioned.Someone help me. Does this mean that the referendum was not
legal? That the people did not have the right to vote to leave?
+One Time Pad Horrible. I mean these are elected leaders who are supposed
to have common sense. To ask legal advisors about things.
Has there been any response from Mr Cameron on this?
+One Time Pad Yes I agree. Thanks
It’s not troubling. We joined the EU as a joint effort by Parliament and
the people in 1972. It should be so. The referendum was a populist vote and
people voting for and against were not aware of the intricate details of
leaving the EU, it was basically a vote by the mob. This is a good move.
people voted based on false information
The government seem to have a very good case. Much better than i originally
thought.
bo ptah not really. It will based on what has been normal process to this
point. Parliament has sovurinity in the UK form of democracy, I don’t see
how that can be overturned. UK referendums are not legally binding and
require parliamentary ascent.
+One Time Pad
on the contrary. the royal prerogative is established in dealing with
treaties including termination . Unless expressly limited by parliament
before the referendum is held in the referendum legislation which was
debated in parliament. ie. If parliament want a say now, they should
have limited the governments powers before the fact. this is established
at ‘common law’ and not by legislation. ( UK is common law)
We so need a constitution, rather than just the law!!!
Lool and the west want to bring democracy by invading iraq and Afghanistan
hahahah.. Hypocrites.. West looted wealth from east
What makes me sad is an EU nation could of been a beautiful thing but once
again greed ignorance and humans in general just take every apple it grows
and make it rotten to the core .. and I’m not talking about the far right
either . far right is just a by product of whats going on .. like how
pollution is a by product of irresponsible manufacturers.
I have trust in the British Parliament, that they will refuse “brexit”
which won populous vote 52 to 48? Even witches were burnt at higher
approval.
Semi illegal Immigration of economic migrants is to be handled more
decisively 4 sure by EU! but Great Britain is a major power in Continental
Europe too!
I hope the Lords or whatever and “commons” Parliaments will vote against
“Brexit”, enabled by Supreme Court of Great Britain ruling!
Long live the European Empire of 28 Nations!
