  1. I remember when my oldest daughter was in 6th grade and she was on the phone with a friend and I heard her say, “That doesn’t work in our family.’ When i asked her about it later she said her friend was telling her how to get her way by arguing. That’s one of those parent/child moments I will always remember..

  2. 40 years ago John Thune lived on $6.00 an hour. Flash forward 40 years in the future and he’s making $1.25 an hour more. Where would we be if the people who run our country lived on our real time budget/economy?

    1. @Ebaneezer Scourge the illusion of choice sure. only white men were given free college educations after world war 2 and low interest loans to buy housing. too many times white people have been given hand outs and the idea or someone else even being able to make it on the efforts of a single job comes as a threat to them and their place in this white made hierarchy.

    2. @Ebaneezer Scourge more fake news, do you try to be this disconnected from reality or is it a family trait

    3. I’ve been yapping about this for four decades during which time co-workers etc thought I was a complainer. Anyone out there who’s retired knows what I’m talking about.

  3. you tube has removed access to the last remaining way to sort for news with its trending page change. You guys should be complaining with us.

  4. Parenting is about talking about everything with your child and constructing a structured way of being that is natural.

  5. Um, we dont live in the past
    More failed arguments
Any freshman taking intro anthropology class could dismantle this after a few weeks

  6. having not read this book, i can say that my husband and I took some of these thoughts into consideration with the way we raise our daughter. She doesnt get a screen. yes the TV may be on in the room, but she doesnt always get to pick what is on (though it is always child safe) – because she does not rely on a screen to entertain her, i thought it would be a matter of i have to be in her face 24/7 entertaining her instead, but she has developed a great ability to learn and play on her own. yes we do play with her, but if i need to get things done at home, she is just find using her imagination to entertain herself.. I a interested n taking a look at the book though

  7. I have an autistic son who’s 24 now, and I feel the way I’ve raised him has helped him to be a loving caring human being. Children are not property, they are God’s Gift.

  8. Okay… so how do we go with school refusal?

My kids and I are fine except when we have to meet social/civic responsibility.

  9. The hospitable pail expectantly long because begonia analogically yawn amid a jaded witch. worthless, mellow meal

  10. the problem is not “we lost the ability to teach our kids to be respectful”

problem is you have kids raising kids, also unqualified parents raising kids
