Black women are more likely than any other group to be evicted, according to a USA TODAY analysis of four years of local and national housing records and data from the University of California, Berkeley. Black women renters get filed against at twice the rate of white women renters nationwide.

King County in Washington state has one of the highest eviction filing rates for Black women, with landlords filing against Black women at five times the rate of white renters, in some cases over less than $10 in back rent.

  3. Hmmm….Hmm…let me think… worked at a mostly black company.. my black Manger refused me to hire black women… said they “Pop off” all the time.. no way…

  4. I just read a story on Yahoo about another woman, Chambers, who is being evicted. They actually mentioned to woman in the very same article to “make their case” about AA women being evicted more than anyone else. Anyway, the story of Chambers starts out sweet as can be — She kept a tidy home, respected the property, and she claimed she always paid rent on time. It isn’t until, deep down in the story (where many have stopped reading by this point) that we find out that her son began punching holes in the wall as soon as they moved in (he disabled and “bipolar” the story says) Additionally, she let back rent pile up to the tune of 20k during the pandemic, which was finally paid in full, but the taxpayers — this was due to her inability to find a job as a nurse. I repeat, her inability to find a job as a nurse, during CV. So, please, quit dressing these stories up with emotion and hints of discrimination because it’s simply *not true* no matter how badly you want it to be or else they never would’ve gotten their foot in the door in the first place!
