Officials in Buffalo, New York, want an investigation into the firing of a black police officer who intervened when a white colleague had a suspect in a chokehold.
The incident happened in November 2006. At the time, Officer Cariol Horne had served 19 of the 20 years needed to receive her pension, a spokesperson for Horne told CNN.
But Horne was fired for intervening and did not qualify for her pension, the city said.
"The message was sent that you don't cross that blue line and so some officers — many officers don't," said Horne in an interview with CNN's Brianna Keilar.

Not only should she be compensated for all of those years. Cariol law should be passed as well.
This 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow great idea friend
if i’m correct some state polices are starting to implement something like this. pretty much if an officer is abusing their power or something along those lines and another officer is there to even witness it they MUST intervene.
ThreeI_ lies they all corrupted, black, white, Hispanic, Asian etc the all blue system is broke.
Give this sista her money! And offer her a job to lecture new officers in training!
This!
There is a change.org petition to get her pension. Google “Cariol Horne pension” it will be the second result.
You’re only changing the change.org bank account.
Thanks for the info. Signed it. It’s been long overdue for Cariol.
ya, it’s now close with 160,000+ signed
@Timothy Flemming Jr where are you all going to sign it? When I pulled it up about 45 minutes ago it said closed. Which kind of makes sense seeing as how I saw an update from Cariol herself that was made 5 years ago! Is there another one or something?

Imagine police officers lying on another officer so wtf would they do to civilians.
Forever Gooner
It’s worse than that.
Murdered Baltimore cop was set to testify in police corruption case, shot with own gun
https://abcnews.go.com/US/murdered-baltimore-cop-shot-gun-set-testify-police/story?id=51341526
You have no idea it goes way past lying
A cop who turned on another cop is worse than a regular criminal, they should know better than to cross the blue line.
@SuprG X dose any one still believe this department ….. on anything …..
This lady saved a persons life and was fired for it. Imagine being fired for literally doing your job.
Except that is not their job, that is supposed to be their job they are simply there to oppress the poor and the middle class and to protect the powerful. Preservation of life, protecting and serving even at risk to themselves, the betterment of their community, those are all very distant seconds and thirds if they even factor into the equation at all anymore.
This makes my blood boil, here this police woman interviened to stop another police office from doing a chokehold on a suspect and she gets fired for it, makes no sense
She got slapped and jumped on by her fellow officer too
And gets her pension taken away. The cop that killed Floyd is still going to get his pension. WTF!
cause system is rotten, police institution is organized mafia, one good office like Cariol can not oppose the corrupt system, big social movement may be can do some change

What number do I call to pressure this woman to get her money?!?! She saved a man’s life!
Change.org could help by starting a petition and getting it signed by the public. People read these things all the time and seeing that we just learning this the public will support this woman of valor.
Call Governor Cuomo.
@Stacy Johnson AG James got this. Trust me!
boyyyyyyy she bout to get PAID… Forget a pension… this is a wrongful termination suite
Perhaps. But no amount of compensation can remove the physiological stress this caused her. I would not be surprised if high blood pressure and coronary problems accompanied these 14 years of being wronged for doing right.
There is a @t petition to get her pension. Google “Cariol Horne pension” it will be the second result.
this happened TEN years ago. the statute of limitations is long passed.
I think she wants more than her pension. She wants to emphasize police brutality as a former cop.
Give this woman her pension & any money lost since she’s been fired from the NYPD….EVERY PENNY OF IT!! ✌
She should get all of that and more say two Million dollars more 🤔
Make her the chief of police!
NYPD is city of New York not the state she worked for BPD the city of buffalo 6.5 hours on the other side of the state smh
plus interest
@Toni Ortiz: Candice probably cheered for the cop who was choking the suspect!
“I lost everything but saved Neil’s life.”..This made me cry.

She got screwed from her white male officers in Buffalo , hope she win s her dignity back and a job
@Latre Love Absolutely, her dignity and self respect are higher BECAUSE of what she sacrafised to do the right thing.
F that job. Give her back what she worked for
She never just lost her dignity, it’s all intact. However they owe her hella lot of back pay and her pension.
There is a change (dot) org petition for Cariol to get her pension. Google “Cariol Horne pension” it will be the second result.
Thank you! (And thankfully, Cariol’s dignity is intact.)
She doesn’t need her job back for the same reason Colin Kaepernick doesn’t really need his. She’s now a symbol for one of the most timely, righteous causes around.
She deserves to be honored, as an Officer of the law, and a Hero.
and a sh*tload of cash
She needs to receive her pension and be rewarded for courage and stepping in and saving someone’s life.
Actually, as Pastor Judah Smith has said, “The system isn’t broken. It was BUILT this way.” He knows, he has seen way too much to believe otherwise…so have I.

what a beautiful soul she has
its horrible how they fired her for trying too avoid someones death she was doing her job properly
Indeed she does….a very gentle soul. Sadly, good officers often are fired if they speak up or intervene when cops resort to brute force or they just quit their jobs because they’ve seen far too much corruption whilst on the police force.
Nakia Jones is another officer who lost her job…for being outraged at the frequent brutal, in-cold-blood mvrders by cops. It is heartbreaking.
Shut up! its all your fault. you and you people live you whole life and stand and do nothing… talk you your dad and uncles and brothers about this…
She should get her full pension paid retroactively, along with a hefty settlement.
And this is why I say ‘good’ cops get fired..because it’s literally what happens. She isn’t the only one to get fired for acting in good faith or speaking up. Funny how she loses her pension but cops with multiple complaints, that go on to kill someone on camera, keep theirs.

“I did stop the chokehold, and he did. Live.”
SHERO!!!
Looks like Buffalo hasn’t changed much. From this Officer’s firing to the “tactical” squad knocking down a 75 y/o man.
She deserves her pension, back pay for unjustified firing and her reputation!
Disgusting that it took this long to
remedy the injustice she suffered!!!!

This women is a hero she saved a life that day, she does deserve her pension she did the right thing.
