Sadly you are correct..So many who are underplaying this, or even worse , those who actually believe it is some bizarre Global Hoax, will not likely get serious until this Virus does hit very close to home.. In the meantime, they are often not taking even sensible precautions and therefore are putting their own lives and the lives of other others at risk. How anyone could watch the actual Documentaries of what has played out in China and not realize if anything, the Government’s Globally are trying not to cause widespread Panic. They have to Broadcast the updates to the Public yet they are trying to be optimistic and not overstate the dangers…Only time will tell if that was a wise path to follow.

my cousin in korea said testing costs $150 but suspected cases are just automatically taken away and tested assuming they don’t have to pay

Hmmm by comparison, CDC reports that last year in the united states over 1 million people got the flu and 60,000 people in the U.S. died from the flu, thats an avarage of over 1300 deaths a month in the U.S. alone, yet nobody paniced about that, it did not even make the news.
@Bill Heathcock While they are still working on the mortality rate, it’s already being estimated that it is much higher than most individual strains of the flu. So per disease it’s killing a higher percentage of people in a shorter amount of time. It also is more infectious and we don’t have any vaccines to protect people. COVID-19 is definitely something we should be focusing our resources on.

Um, China did a study saying that the virus can infect people 4.5 meters away and it can hang in the air for at least half an hour. Don’t buy what De Blasio is selling you.
@Anthony Gomes look at the evidence. Flu is a highly infectious droplet transmitted disease, and COVID-19 is about twice as infectious. Logic would tell us that there should be a reason it spreads faster.
@TheWin200000 I am not arguing if it is more transmissible than flu or not. But don’t cite Chinese study as source of Information. They are one responsible for it in the first place.
@Anthony Gomes yeah well, there is a Taiwanese study and a Japanese study in which they conclude that the US may in fact have been the origin based on the spread of the strains and the fact that only the US has all five haplotypes. Those are US allies, not Chinese allies. There is a lot we just don’t know yet.

I started listening to his press conference about the virus a few days ago. I stopped when I realized that ge was giving out misinformation.
“Hi everyone, I’m writing this message for all of you to prepare ahead for CoronaVirus. I live in Italy, more precisely in Bologna, a city between Milan and Florence. For 2 weeks now schools and universities are closed and all kinds of public events cancelled. The situation in the hospitals is critical as the number of sick people is increasing dramatically. Every day we welcome a new decree limiting our lives a bit more. From tomorrow the whole of Italy has been declared in quarantine and thus we can’t move from our houses except to get our food and eventually go to work, even if many people are already working from home. The virus presents symptoms of serious pneumonia in many cases and even younger people are getting to the hospitals, the only good news, no pediatrica cases for now!
The places in intensive therapy are too few, no respiratory machines, no beds make doctors have to choose patients who have more chances to live to take the few places available, the others are apparently sent home with a therapy or kept without artificial respiration anyhow. Doctors are making vocal messages and sending videos begging people to stay at home to avoid more people to get ill. Why do I write all these? I’d like to let you know that this virus is not a joke or some more intense flue as we all seemed to believe here. We didn’t think it was a serious issue as actually some people overcome it without intensive therapy but many DON’T! So, dear people out there wherever you are, get ready: follow a restrictive diet, take your supplements, stop smoking, do your exercise, get your good quality food before it ends, get the face masks before they end or cost a real fortune! Stay at home before we did and above all bear in mind that you might not have symptoms but have the virus and someone else can easily take it and end up without a respiratory machine to save his or her life.

After all this mess, did you believed still has people thinking its like normal flu and this its just conspiracy? Its so dumb, era of flat earth..
States need to close down all events, schools, and enforce telecommuting for work as much as is feasible. The US has a matter of 10-15 days before this explodes. 20 yr olds are dying in Italy, this is not a joke.
