@Brian Holmes ‘those other examples drew the line at destroying our constitution,’ HUAC was able to function only because it routinely and systematically negated the Fifth Amendment (Marilyn Monroe was one of the few subpoenaed who stood up against this). I have no time for Donald Trump:- he is a traitor, and needs to face trial as such. But what he is doing isn’t new; most of his tricks have been seen before (and were as popular when they were fresh as he is now).
@Sir Garwy I agree, that’s why it’s imperative that Biden creates an independent non-partisan legal counsel to investigate and hold accountable all those who committed crimes during, with, and for Trump, including Trump. If we let them get away with their crimes our country of laws is finished. #JusticeMatters.
@Brian Holmes That sounds great, but the hands of justice are busy lifting the blindfold and tipping the scale in favor of these people. The Senate chose to acquit Trump, and in doing so, abdicated their constitutional responsibilities. Moreover, they have aided in the chaos of this government and their silence has enabled this president. History reveals that these people do not experience adverse consequences, but rather, they go on living within the exclusive and secretive power groups that wield influence. I can only hope that NYC and NYS can have some success in bringing Trump and his family to some semblance of accountability.
@Brian Holmes Politics are rooted in perception (which is defined with confirmation biases). The mere notion that Biden would authorize a nonpartisan, independent anything is failed at inception. Most presidents follow history and decorum, thus not pursuing legal criminal actions against their predecessor. My guess is that Biden will follow suit.
