Russia's state-owned gas company Gazprom said it would cut flows through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany in half, to just 20% of its capacity. A US official said the move was retaliation for western sanctions, and that it put the West in "unchartered territory" when it comes to whether Europe will have enough gas to get through the winter. #CNN #News
🤦How did you not see this coming? That was a lay up months ago.
@Timothy Lopez I don’t think you have an idea, any more talk is useless. Good night
USA: we want war with Russia amd everything is fair innlove and War
Russia: so i will hit back. Tun off the gas pipes and oil
USA: ohh..noo..thats not fair!
Stubbornness of western leaders
wasn’t europe supposed to cut off their imports months ago on their own accord?
@Tail Gunner
Putin’s actions only seem to be convincing the remaining eastern European countries that haven’t yet applied for EU and NATO membership, that they should.
But energy security still remains an issue. But Europe isn’t a monolith. Each country still has its own independent issues and ways of dealing with them. It’s going to require global cooperation.
russia is europe
Well we shouldn’t have interfered
@Lynnell Scott 👈😂
What did the #EU think was going to happen when you start depending on resources from #Putin and #Russia ?
– “What did the #EU think was going to happen when you start depending on resources from #Putin and #Russia ?”
A typical comment from someone who doesn’t know much about the EU. Repeat the following ten times: EU.. is… not… a… country. Where individual EU member countries buy their energy is their business, not EU’s. Most EU countries also aren’t especially dependent on Russian gas. On the other hand, many countries around the world, for example the USA, are dependent on Russia with something that’s important to them.
@Jason J There definitely was a maintenance issue in this case.
Lol finger point at Putin and Russia but they actually chose this themselves… They didn’t have to chose that and they would still be secure and fine right now silly.
You mean a country using whatever leverage they have in disputes with other countries, OMG… it’s unheard-of.
“Let’s buy gas from Russia,” they said. “What could go wrong?”, they said.
Seems legit!! lol
Take accountability for the Sanctions
All the major gas producers are not really “friendly”
I think you’re missing the irony here. Rather, the stupidity.
I wasn’t very smart to become so reliant on Russian energy in the first place
@Ryan Massie so they knew this decades ago and they still weren’t prepared? Not too bright, huh?
Not smart to rely on anybody but that blows globalization out the window.
Agreed
Who didn’t see this coming? Another impotent government NOT taking care of their citizenry. I hope Europe will be okay.
@Bobby Beeman disillusioned lol
@Bobby Beeman The sin in Russia is saying anything bad about Putin or The government. Would you really want to live there?
@Alain Gadbois far better than American cities with severe crime rates, drug infested, gun crimes, etc.
Well now they can dump all the firepower they want to help Ukraine.
Laugh now Germans! 🦅🇺🇸

This is what happens when you abandon nuclear energy due to political pressure.
Especially with all the advancement we have made in that field of dealing with waste that is green energy every country should be on it we need a movement to show the negative picture people think about is false
“Independence breeds Peace”
dont you see what happened to jp with their nuclear energy? I dont want to be rude but if jpnese could f up then i dont think europe should use
Only if someone warned the EU about that years ago but got laughed at.

I heard France’s energy is mostly nuclear. This may be a better option for other countries in the future.
@sphhyn there is a nuclear repository in the US. By the time that mountain erodes away humanity will have become extinct.
Future? 😂😂😂 Putin has Europe over a barrel. At this point he can enforce his will as he pleases!
France buy Saudi oil…
They were warned for years about this possibility and they ignored it, so what’s the big deal?

So you want them to buy US expensive gas?
They knew this was coming and chose to ignore it, being energy independent is more important now than ever but that’s not the agenda
@Steve Durham Yeah. Ukraine should surrender. Ukraine should have surrendered months ago. The longer the war goes on, the more territory Ukraine permanently loses. If it doesn’t end in another couple months, Ukraine will become a landlocked nation. It would at that point be entirely dependent upon Russia anyway.
@Steve Durham we aren’t at war so there’s nothing to surrender
There’s always renewables!! The green new deal will save everyone…. *sarcasm*
@Roberto Rosales Surrender …. to yield to the power, control, or possession of another upon compulsion or demand. See how war is not mentioned?
It’s unbelievable that we are so advanced in so many areas and yet most countries depend on other countries for their energy..
I think every country should have energy independence.. it’s possible!!! But then again,big oil and gas won’t let that happen so easily!!!
@Smy not really. If that was the case why did Trump work with OPEC to cut production for two years? If we were that independent, we wouldn’t be worried about OPEC, MBS or any part of that world…
Explain how Germany for example could be 100% energy independent? Countries can be more independent, but 100% is not possible. We are not 100% independent and we have nuclear, wind, solar, hydroelectric, coal, natural gas and some crude oil.
Ah yes, the old “don’t put all your eggs in one basket “ lesson comes to mind.
@Steve Durham Steve lol
Like a Russian Nesting Doll? 😉
@DK ProTek what is this mental shaolin?
And the old “don’t bite the hand who feeds you” lesson comes to mind too
Intelligent leaders make sure that green energy is able to produce enough electricity and the grid is able to receive it BEFORE they get rid of the fossil fuels. A seamless transition so the citizens and the economy isn’t harmed.
Excellent observation Mr. MxGukin.
@Professor Jay Tee it’s the waste that’s scary, but yeah, it’s cheap! And I feel we are being dinosaurs by holding on to dinosaurs.
@Professor Jay Tee They only understand what their tv’s show them.
There lies the problem
Germany laughed at Trump when he said Russia was going control their gas I hope they’re still laughing at least that’ll get them through this cold winter

Mkay Ken kook.
Russia: We are just helping EU to reduce their carbon emissions
EU: Wah wah wah. Russia is weaponizing the gas against us
EU: Sanctions Russia
Also EU: weaponize Visa/MasterCard…
Russia: weaponize Oil
Russia Also: weaponize gas
Playing field: Leveled
EU: Cry me a river 🤣😂😅
This is a serious seriousISSUE. The United states needs to become ENERGY independent NOW.
As if sending more ammos and weapons to Ukraine is not politically motivated? U expect Russia to hv mercy on u? How funny!
