President Joe Biden on Thursday delivered a stark warning about the dangers behind Russian President Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats as Moscow continues to face military setbacks in Ukraine.
“First time since the Cuban missile crisis, we have a direct threat of the use (of a) nuclear weapon if in fact things continue down the path they are going,” Biden warned during remarks at a Democratic fundraiser in New York where he was introduced by James Murdoch, the youngest son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, according to the pool report.
He added: “I don’t think there’s any such thing as the ability to easily (use) a tactical nuclear weapon and not end up with Armageddon.” #DonLemonTonight #PhilMattingly #CNN
Being old and all I sadly remember the Cold War I Served in. Having to tell my mother the aircraft carrier I served on was probably the safest acreage on the planet. I hate that children will grow up with that same lingering fear.
@Bald_Flex Productionzz What?
@John Carroll Trump 2024
This is America we always have something to fear. No
Matter what the generation is. 🧐 wonder why that is? Haha
It’s important to note that our NATO signalling is not just for Putin, but also for his inner circle, generals and China, who are the braking force on Putin’s nuclear ambitions
@Massimo He migth have helped it. he had plans to leave nato if he got elected a second term. So putin have to handle more rapid
@Sleepingnextodeath In actuality, is it really spreading a narrative or, just a personal opinion ! And why are you emitting insecurity in the midst of smartness ?
This would be the right time for a respected, popular scientist to repeat the warnings of Carl Sagan about nuclear winter in the 80’s..
@YeuphYes, found a scientist but not the one that we were looking for
@MAAD TEE how about them just attacking the largest nuclear power plant in Europe like they nearly did the other week just with more gusto?
How many nuclear plants are there in Ukraine alone, let alone all over western Europe?
@Yeuph Not all at once they haven’t….
@clubredken Really, thousands going off at the same time. It would be the end of everything.
Someone explain to Putin that radioactive fallout does not stay in one place.
The man captured Chernobyl…I don’t think RadiationSickness is his highest priority.
@Steven Anderson Im sorry to hear that. It’s a shame the evil things they have done
How much do they pay you?
He doesn’t care he knows he is on his way out he’s gonna take every one with him
At what point do we stop appeasing a murderous dictator? You can say all you want that we should not “amplify” the issue but at some point we have to stop walking backwards. putin is likely to be removed if such an order is given because of the very stark reality of his losses in Ukraine and the use of nukes will only bring misery to his people as well as everyone else. I sure every command officer in the Russian military is not willing to sacrifice their families for one man in a losing conflict….
the man has gone tonto crazy from linda in scotland
I was a kid back then but I still remember doing drill’s in school and the army was on the beach (I was a kid so they could have been national guard) even as a kid we knew things weren’t right
You cannot give in to nuclear blackmail: once you do that there is no limit to the demands Putin can make.
There is a limit. The limit is the border of the U.S. That’s how it should be.
Thank God world leaders are finally accepting this
I fear the truth is that the nuclear threat cannot be wished away. The best we can hope for is that the leaders will keep these weapons unloaded and put them back in the drawer where they belong.
Praying
@Al Cor or maybe don’t threaten Russia’s security interests, as they have pleaded?
Russia is a country where people regularly fall out of very high windows. I’m certain Putin is near one of these types of windows regularly.
You know he’s ex KGB – he’s the one who throws them out windows. This won’t end well.
hope so
No, he has been living in a room without windows for 3 years now. He spends all his time in a bunker, deep underground.
Now his options have narrowed down to one: stay in that bunker forever. I wonder if US were to offer him a regular room — with windows — if he would trade this for the only future left out for him.
We’ve had past world leaders who had access to these nukes and didn’t contemplate using them for obvious reasons. Putting ego aside will probably be one of the smartest thing these guys can do for us all.
Yes, tell that to Putin
The U.S. Has got to figure out how to fight fire with water and win a nuclear war without using nuclear weapons.
It is a message for the people around Putin.
Agree💙💜💚
I’ll tell you again, there is no off ramp in his mind. He is going to have to be taken out of power. By force.
Both of them do!
Definitely.
By force?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It really does feel like we have reached the point in time where life on Earth won’t last much longer with how things are going
yup
in africa we don’t care we suffered and continue suffering so nuclear or no nuclear we don’t care
@Talon Hayes yes I know.
“I believe we are a species with amnesia, I think we have forgotten our roots and our origins. I think we are quite lost in many ways. And we live in a society that invests huge amounts of money and vast quantities of energy in ensuring that we all stay lost. A society that invests in creating unconsciousness, which invests in keeping people asleep so that we are just passive consumers or products and not really asking any of the questions.” – Graham Hancock
@MrAshleyA Desperate people do desperate things. What you and I think of as logical is not what someone who’s irrational, if not demented, is thinking of.
I’m not trying to scare you, but people can justify the most horrendous of actions if they’re scared and desperate enough.
This is only surprising for those who are not following or turn a blind eye to what is happening in Ukraine
@Preserve Homestead I hope you are the first one taken out in the counter measure
Its all insane, but not reacting atall or caving-in would be worse!
Sure it’s insane, but remember, that’s why YOU voted for this!
Hah, that last dude backed out of his answer quickly lol.
I agree somewhat with the guy at the end, however, I was actually glad to hear Biden say it plainly. We constantly hear the folks in the highest positions of power saying, “there’s nothing to see here.” I think it’s more dangerous to assume that Putin is bluffing.
Absolutely 😢. Putin is ruthless
@John Carroll The moving out from afganistan as already signed by trump
@xXElement The war with Ukraine is nothing new, so go back to school, kid.. and read some history
@xXElement of course he is. Keep telling yourself that.
As someone born in central Europe in the late 90-s, the cold war stories (like the Cuban missile crisis) always seemed so grand and important, but very remote at the same time. It’s hard to process now that things of the same magnitude are happening at this very moment.
Why worry, JOSÉ BIDEN has it handled…
@Całe Te YES..SO WHY DO YOU POST?
@HERAMANIGO Uh..Because it’s NOT A THREAT…when it’s able to BE BACKED UP!…
Something about him saying “Right at all.” was incredibly relatable.
