The long and the short of it is that the kind of activism you’re talking about is misplaced. People pay a lot of money to see the games. Athletes have sponsors they represent, not to mention their own team and country. An Olympic athlete works for all of us and does not have the right to take over the games to spread their rhetoric. It’s just wrong and I would support any decision to deliver consequences to someone pulling stunts like this.
If an athlete has an agenda? Let them work it on their own time, without wearing a uniform, and honestly, I really think they should hold off until they aren’t drawing any paychecks.
