I live in Britain and things aren’t that great. Everyone here values the NHS (public healthcare) but the quality of care is abysmal, the unions defend all the incompetent thieving management staff who waste billions of pounds of resources and yet still moan about underfunding leaving the normal doctors stressed and forced to work ridiculous hours for little pay. If given the choice between public and private healthcare everyone would choose private in an instant as all the good doctors opt to work for private (either in the UK, or America where they where migrate en masse) as they can provide them with a work-life balance that facilitates any sort of life. So while I agree that the insurance companies over in America are scumbags the proposal to eliminate private healthcare totally would not be all that great for America’s middle class.

Under Bernie it will probably be even worse. If you’re employed, you’re going to be paying out way more than you make. Why else do you think Bernie requires everyone to pay into his system, than simply offering a public option, since he thinks the middle class will save money, and so voluntarily come onto the public option? The answer is that it won’t be cheaper for middle class, but even more expensive.

We got some private clinics and hospitals here as well. They provide a service for people willing to pay premium, and they provide service paid by the government as needed.
People here can get health insurances, but they still have to pay taxes for the public healthcare system.

So while yes, public healthcare is a good thing and should be a human right, that doesn’t mean eliminating private healthcare altogether. I don’t know if things are better in the public healthcare in Norway but your country has a 1 trillion dollar sovereign debt fund so it’s not at all a fair comparison

Universal Healthcare here in the UK 🇬🇧 since WWII.
In Canada we have it as well since 1968 I beleive, it’s not as good as the uk healthcare but it’s still pretty good
