pm_skerrit_and_prc_ambassador_sign_agreement_september_2009.jpgRoseau, Dominica – September 4, 2009……… The signing of a Framework Agreement between the Government of Commonwealth of Dominica and the Government of China at a ceremony at the Financial Centre on Wednesday paves the way for the Government of Dominica to finalise discussions with the Export-Import Bank of China for a loan not exceeding US$40 million to undertake four major projects in the Roseau area.

CARICOM STUDENTS IN DOMINICA ON CSME PROMOTION DRIVE

Roseau, Dominica – September 4, 2009……… Twenty-five (25) students from across the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are currently in Dominica as part of a project of the CARICOM Secretariat to train youth in the region to identify and develop responses to CSME opportunities as well as to engage the next generation in identifying career opportunities with regard to wage employment, self-employment and starting a business in the CSME.

Dominica establishes diplomatic relations with the Republic of Finland

Roseau, Dominica – August 25, 2009……… In keeping with its stated commitment to expand its diplomatic relationships around the world for the benefit of the people of Dominica, the Government of Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit has recently established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Finland. Finland is a member of the European Union with a population of 5.3 million people.

Prime Minister Skerrit confirms $35 million loan from China to build state-of-the-art Dominica State

Roseau, Dominica – August 25, 2009……… At the 2009 Orientation ceremony of the Dominica State College on Monday, Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit confirmed that the Government of China has agreed to provide a concessionary loan of EC$35 million to Dominica to finance the construction of a state-of-the-art Dominica State College.

2009 /2010 BUDGET PASSED DURING FIRST MEETING OF THE FIFTH SESSION OF THE SEVENTH PARLIAMENT

Government receives authorisation to guarantee loans to AID Bank and Government Housing Loans Board in an effort to assist public officers and

stimulate economic activity

 

Roseau, Dominica – August 11, 2009….. During the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Seventh Parliament, the 2009/2010 Budget was passed. During that Meeting, Parliament gave its approval for Government to guarantee loans to the Dominica Agricultural, Industrial and Development Bank (AID Bank) and the Government Housing Loans Board in furtherance of specific development objectives.
