PRIME MINISTER SKERRIT TO PRESENT EC$445.9 MILLION BUDGET TO PARLIAMENT ON FRIDAY

Roseau, Dominica – July 29, 2009….. Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Social Security and National Security, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, will present a $445.8 million Budget to Parliament when it meets for the First Meeting of the Fifth Session at the House of Assembly  in Roseau on Friday, July 31, 2009, starting at 10.00am.

PRIME MINISTER SKERRIT TAKES PUBLIC DIALOGUE ON THE OECS ECONOMIC UNION TO THE DOMINICA ASSOCIATION

Roseau, Dominica – July 15, 2009……. Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit will take the public dialogue on the OECS Economic Union to the Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) on Friday, July 17, 2009. The event will take place at the Convent High School auditorium, beginning at 10am.

Since the launching of the public dialogue on the OECS Economic Union in Dominica in April 2008, a number of sensitisation sessions have been held with groups and organisations in furtherance of the Economic Union dialogue. These groups included youth organisations, teachers, farmers, local government bodies, credit unions among others.

Dominica Makes Formal Request to IMF for Resources Under the Exogenous Shocks Facility

Roseau, Dominica – July 10, 2009……. As the effects of the global economic and financial crisis continue to impact negatively on small and vulnerable economies like Dominica, the Dominica Government has joined the Governments of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia in making a formal request to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for resources under the Rapid-Access Component of the Exogenous Shocks Facility (ESF). Dominica is seeking SDR 3.28 million (US$5 million).
