Author Salman Rushdie was stabbed Friday at the Chautauqua Institution in upstate New York. He is off a ventilator and is "on the road to recovery."

The USA TODAY best-selling writer, whose work has previously led to death threats, suffered wounds to the neck and abdomen when an assailant attacked him as he was about to give a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York.

That venue refused to amp up security when there were calls to do so, by using metal detectors and bag checks. So I blame them.
He should’ve refused to speak at that venue without sufficient security
