As GOP Hits ‘Woke’ Companies, Ben & Jerry Hit Back On Values, Equality & Police Reform

Legendary ice cream makers and progressive activists Ben and Jerry have a new campaign to end qualified immunity for police, a major issue in pending legislation, and they join MSNBC’s Ari Melber to discuss. In the interview, they also respond to mounting Republican attacks on corporations that back certain policies, like voting rights; explain their philosophy on capitalism and ice cream; recount how the idea for “Cherry Garcia” came from a Deadhead fan; and they respond to Ari’s irreverent “hardball” question pressing them on whether their ice cream is mostly popular because of its ridiculous amount of fillings and toppings. (This interview is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber, a news show covering politics, law and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC. ).

    1. @B Taylor Awesome. Let them enjoy the ‘nothing’ their republikkkan politicians are giving them.

  1. Someone needs to sue these people. Ben and Jerry are responsible for at least 15 extra lbs from their Chunky Monkey on my body. Wth. Okay Chocolate Fudge Brownie is also responsible. It’s an OUTRAGE!

Really happy these guys stand for what’s right.. so I forgive ’em for the extra 15lbs

    1. Lol. When I worked there in the 90’s we were allowed 3 free pints per day (😬). Everyone gained weight initially, we called it the “Ben 10”. Wonderful company though. They make really good non dairy ice cream too. 😉

    2. Oh come one now…ask anyone…they will tell you the extra 15 looks wonderful on you 🥰. Those cheek bones were a little too prominent 🙂

    1. @B Humphries : And just exactly how does Chick-fil A support racism and bigotry ? because they are closed on Sunday ?

    2. @Gary Campbell – Because their CEO has donated to causes which are anti-LGBTQ and anti-equality.

    1. @Jeff M
The way I look at B&J guilt is, as long as I’m not eating B&J everyday, then I have no reason to feel B&J guilty!

    2. @Kryptonarie 63 Agreed…I think my comment got deleted but I wanted to say it was all in fun and I will gladly abuse Ben and
Jerry’s icecream just watch me lol

    3. I eat a pint of b&j daily 😭 Started at the end of my pregnancy. Baby is 3 weeks old and I’m still on my ice cream kick!

  2. Absolutely love these two! Who could hate/disagree with the men that created Karamelsutra ice cream . Caramel core yum!!

    1. Yes, yes and yes my top choice b/c I am a dulce de leche natural born eater, but after I love in no particular order NY super fudge chunk, Chunky Monkey, and Phish Food.

  3. Bravo to Ben and Jerry for standing up to the racism and hatred, the racism that exacerbated during Trump’s time in the WH.

    1. @Jeremy Backup according to Reuters hate crimes rose under Obama too.😂😂😂 any other secrets you got there?

    2. @Starlight Voyager Umm, yeah, I don’t doubt for a second that hate crimes rose under President Obamas leadership. Do I really need to explain why, or can you figure it out by yourself? Hint: it has something to do President Obamas skin colour.

    3. @dayone sorry chief not how real life works. If it rose because the whole world is racist then it wouldn’t just stop being racist because of Trump.

    4. @dayone okay just so I understand when they went up under Obama’s because everyone else is racist but when they went up over Trump is because he was racist? That’s some mighty logic

  4. These are the kind of people that deserve monuments. They built heir own business from the ground up, they give back to the communities and they stand up up for the disenfranchised……all in a strong, constant and personal way. Model citizens.

    1. “After I’m dead I’d rather have people ask why I have no monument than why I have one.” Cato the Elder

  5. Ok so now I will be gaining more weight supporting Ben and Jerry’s fabulous work for truth and the American way !!!!

    1. @Helen McCann lol they just started their YouTube account 2 days ago so I would definitely say yes they are a troll

    2. @Rev Fester BesterTester So you think cops should be able to get away with whatever they want with no consequences when there is abuse of power?

  6. If you’re not woke, what are you? Asleep? In a trance? Afraid of the humility it demands? On my way to get a tub of Ben&Jerry’s. Good on ya.

  7. Will be buying here in Scotland, what a delicious way to support fairness in the world! 😋💙

    1. Me too! From Italy tho. They’re relatively new here and I’m glad my local supermarket have them. Been looking for their chocolate chip cookie for a looong time!

    2. I didn’t realize that they sold internationally. Awesome!!! Thanks for supporting this brand and a great cause! America needs a little help from its friends.

    3. @Brent Walker we have certainly had B&J’s in the UK for some years. Regards from Scotland.
