    1. @Philip Merewood
      I do tend to ramble.
I keep the kayaks on the wall because our apartment is small, we try to live frugally, we have no shed, and I don’t want to just keep them in the back yard, for fear of theft and damage in the winter. We have friends with homes where we could store them but I don’t want to impose on them.
      Where are you from?

    2. @David Primeau apologies I was asking rhetorically. It seems strange that someone with such freedom sees Russia and its spreading of right wing popularism and anti democratic methods and controlling state , the proliferation of corrupt oligarchs etc that is the polar opposite of western ideals yet you don’t see it as a credible geo political agenda.
Yes as the policeman of the world the U.S. and allies have problems but who would you rather have? Russia? Or China.

    3. @Philip Merewood
      Neither.
Thank you. Finally, someone who talks, questions, is intelligent, and uses facts to promote their ideas and opinions.
I have an IQ of just above 120 and am below average in language. One of my best attributes is logic.
I don’t know much about right wing popularism. To me the right wing is less government and to me that is a good thing.
I have no idea what popularism is, if it is popular then it is democratic.
Democratic is a problem as I understand it, it is a vote by the mass which ignores the individual (freedom).
Controlled Russia, by Putin, is not something I would like to live in, however we really don’t know if the people in Russia actually support Putin, or not. We hear things but we don’t know. Ceasarism, a term I heard recently, is widespread, in Russia, the Philippines, and Brasil for example.
Like Trump said, the people in Crimea want to be part of Russia, but we really don’t know. I would be so glad to have open societies and open facts but we don’t have that, even in western worlds. We still have spies and redactions and confidential materials. We are told it is for our good. It would do the world a service to get rid of those things but until it is done everywhere it can be harmful.
You mention oligarchs and I have no idea what that means, I have never had the inclination to find out. From what little I know it is like the Obamas, the Bushes, the Trumps, the Clintons, and the British Royals.
I do believe there are anti western geopolitical ideas, many of them. Our political ideas and more important, our moral ideas, are being eroded from within and I can give many examples. Human rights such as free speech, and free thought, are attacked daily.
At a very basic level, it is unjust to punish someone who runs a red light that has no impact on any other person, or thing. If someone even has to remove their foot off the accelerator then throw the book at the “criminal” but if there is no impact then there is no “crime”.
Your last paragraph is excellent and I do believe what you say. I certainly would not want China or Russia to be the police of the world. It is difficult to defend the USA being the police of the world and at times I can’t. I would probably be dead if I lived in China or Russia and expressed these thoughts, my death, murder, being the ultimate crime against people.
I have told you many things.
I am also a globalist and a socialist, however I am fighting both because of the reality of what is happening. I am fighting many principles I believe in because people are faulted and will always be so.
There is also a large group, muslims, who don’t believe in what I believe. In Canada I can be charged for that last sentence which goes against everything I believe.
I am also trying to expand my writing, language skills. I have made up many stories for my daughter, who is writing her thesis in mathematics, and it would be great to get them on paper. I don’t know if I can.
Sorry if I am boring you.

    4. @David Primeau I would of thought  as a teacher receiving a state pension and state healthcare this would be the opposite of small government.

I am not sure I agree with the speeding car analogy – if there is no impact there is no crime? Individual freedom is a right to do what we want but only until it has the potential to harm others: your individual freedom of expression ends at the tip of my nose. So I do believe I should be prosecuted for drink driving or speeding, running a red light regardless of the result. Or inciting a riot – just because no one joined your cause does not make it any less of a crime. Laws are not just there as a punishment but to ensure the safety of others.

With regards to free speech – yes it is a right but it should only exist for real people not fake accounts . You say you are not allowed to say why you dislike Muslims and this has eroded your free speech? However would you consider it free speech if Hitler was able to legally post 30 second political adds advocating for the solution to another minority?
No I don’t think we should allow a free speech platform for racial bigotry or religious hate just as I don’t think paedophiles or rapists should have a free speech right to amplify their opinion.

    5. @David Primeau right wing or national populism is running on lazy stereotypes of protectionism immigration or minorities, anti environment, no welfare state etc.

  1. Poor Gordon. He bought into a position he clearly wasn’t qualified for. Unpolished, undisciplined and easily manipulated by “the boss” he thought he could just swear his way through without taking notice or notes. WRONG!

    1. Poor Sondland ? This guy is smart enough to stand up and value his life which is more than can be said of these dumb republicans who are making fools of themselves trying to protect a crooked president.

    1. @Yvette Beckwith i think trumped used that dude as A PATSY. trump knew that sondland did not know the ways of the MOB.

    2. @Ms Roxy Baby i sure hope so cause eventualy they will come out. and and sondland will get caught for lying to congress. please pass the popcorn.

    1. aquelpibe Lol.. I hope that Parnas testifies against Nunes . I also hope Bolton testifies before the senate .

    2. @Denise Eugene I disagree with everything Bolton stands for, but I think he is a man of principle. His testimony would make a HUGE difference. A conservative´s conservative. Republicans would have to reevaluate their position. I don´t think he will testify yet, but I hope that at least he speaks out before the 2020 election.
And Parnas testifying would be a sight! Just showing the kind of two-bit thugs Giuliani associates himself with will speak volumes about this administration´s principles and credibility .

    3. aquelpibe The explosions haven’t stopped yet. Parnas wants to testify before the intel committee re Nunes. Guiliani is under investigation and expects to be indicted soon. Bolton maybe waiting for his book deal before disclosing too much . We will see what the courts rule re his testimony. Hopefully the SCOTUS will agree that Trumps taxes should be released. This may all happen before Christmas . Trust me we haven’t seen the worst yet. With Pence Mulvaney Pompeo and Perry all implicated . Just a matter of time before they start considering pleas .

    4. @Denise Eugene I hope you are right and we soon see the end of this nightmare. How so many Americans are still in thrall with their obviously compromised piece of garbage president is beyond me.

  2. He sat there with a smirk on his face like the one guy said smug look on his face… he’s playing a game he told just enough truth do not be treasonous so to speak but he hasn’t told all the truth he’s lying… someone once said a long time ago the truth cleverly told is still a lie…

    1. Legend has it he’s been spotted walking up and down the street in a robe looking disheveled… A guy name Vincent the chin Gigante tried that before stil ended up in dam prison !

    1. @Hildebeast Clinton Of course criminals and corrupt slimeballs want to be protected from being held accountable by getting rid of anyone who will investigate them and it is those that you are supporting, so does that mean you are also an absolute pathetic lowlife

    2. @T Electronix Paid a $Million to trash his reputation and place him at risk of time in the clink and a record as a criminal.
      Smart. ?

    3. @Leah Archambault very interesting analysis, although I am far from the dullest person in the room. Except at a party full of repugs drinking Coors of course, bc imparting any of them with knowledge more complex than a basketball score, is a waste of time. Ignorance is bliss so they could really give a crap about the facts

    1. @gourmet cavewoman when he said he doesn’t keep notes, who does that sound like it came from? That’s right Trump! Remember when Michael Cohen said – “Trump would tell us not to keep notes because it leaves a paper trail.” Sondland played the dumb role and was still lying about “not recalling” the conversation he had with Trump and “he rarely spoke to him on the phone.” Those other witnesses had no reason to lie about him saying “that he calls Trump all the time.”

    2. Vee Ay it’s because he donated a million dollars to trumps election campaign. He’s completely unqualified but money talks in donnie’s world.

    3. And yet we have a bigger moron as “President”. Scary times. GOP in Congress is THE reason this gutting of our democracy is happening. Putin happy.

  3. Considering Sondland’s amendments to his original deposed testimony, Sondland had better be telling the truth today. Cohen, Manafort, Flynn, and Stone would all advise Sondland to tell the truth.

    1. Annie Totally agree. I don’t believe that with the chumminess Sondland had with the President, Trump didn’t directly tell Sondland the entire plot. It didn’t appear to be a secret to the inner circle of the Trump administration. I also think the Sept 9 phone call, where Trump says he wants nothing, no quid pro quo, was staged after the Whistleblower complaint was already filed. Why would Sondland ask, what do you want to do Mr. President when it was clear as day what Trump had been asking. I believe Sondland lied to Congress on those points.

    1. @Falcon Quest Yes, how ’bout phrases like, “shone the light”, “revealed the truth”, “aided authorities” etc. (provided they can back up their claims), like all of these testimonials before the House.

    2. He admitted at the end it is his opinion that every one was in the loop. Once again an opinion. Sorry but he didn’t even solicit his colleagues opinion. Just assumed. Sorry but that doesn’t even count. So your guessing…correct Mr. Sonland?

    3. @James Jones You denounce criminals, you rat on your fellow criminals. Sondland, a participant in a criminal conspiracy, ratted.

    4. @Bud Tommy When you have discussed an issue with someone, you do not have to assume, you KNOW he knows. You seem to forget that Sondland´s written communications with other officials are being held back by the State Department. Sondland knows what is in those emails, memos etc.

  4. *He’s still lying and covering up for Trump by saying he never directly spoke to Trump about this. Any questions that linked him and Trump was “I can’t recall”*

    1. I’ve heard that Bolton is pretty vindictive when he takes revenge, he might be going over how not to grin like a shark while he rips bloody chunks out of Trump’s hide
