"Rust" star Alec Baldwin and the movie's armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were officially charged Tuesday with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the October 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, had taken nearly a year and a half to investigate the death, and announced on Jan. 19 that the two would face charges.

Hutchins died when a prop gun inexplicably loaded with a real bullet discharged as Baldwin pointed it at the camera, where Hutchins was seated, during a rehearsal on the Western set just outside of Santa Fe.

  1. It was the armorer’s job literally to make sure no live ammunition mixes with blanks on film studios literally their job description. Can you imagine being an actor doing a movie scene 49 times and on the 50th time? Bang! an actual real bullet. Sad an actor has to pay that price. A actor not a professional studio armorer. He probably couldn’t tell what a real bullet looked like anyways in comparisons to what a fake one look for a scene.

    1. @MetalFace TheShinobi it’s 100% Baldwin’s fault. He is in control of everything on that set as a producer.

By your logic alone, you would say it would be OK that the past Democrats went to war for human ownership, but the new Democrats only one who enslave humanity by way of taxation instead of chains … just saying

    2. @Nicky Krystals I have an excessively difficult time believing that considering he’s famously an anti gun activist.

    3. @Fire Quackers maybe if he spent less time hating guns and learned responsible gun handling/ownership he wouldn’t have pointed a gun at a person and pulled the trigger. On film sets they don’t actually shoot at people, they edit to make it look like they do. So why was he pointing a gun at that woman?

    1. @ablindman she is supposed to check every bullet and gun that is on set. If she seen ammunition that was not brought by her, it should have been checked

    1. He killed a woman and should have never pointed a gun at her. Is involuntary manslaughter at the very least, although there is evidence it may have actually been intentional. So why should he not be charged? If it were you or I we would have already been rotting in a jail cell

  2. Why do you even have guns experts on the set if it’s the actor’s job to somehow guess that bullets that should not even have been on set are in the freakin gun? I guarantee you one thing, countless actors on the “political left” and the “political right” have failed to check their guns because they assumed the person’s whose freakin job it was to make sure there was no danger did his freaking job. I’m not even an Alec Baldwin fan, I’m just a fan of common sense.
