The federal government's $1-billion COVID-19 aid package earmarks funds for Indigenous services. But Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde warns there must be a specific plan in place to address the virus in remote First Nations communities.

They can’t even dig a gawddam well?
cool video
amazing video
Unbelievable! You’re using this crisis to exercise partisan muscles? Shame on you all!
Why would it be a concern for remote communities if nobody with the virus goes there?
100 percent.More handouts possibly??
No need for cynicism. I, for example, am a teacher from the Toronto area and intend to visit my aging parents during the March break. Decided to cancel a quick trip to New York for obvious reasons, but if I returned with this virus to my small remote community, it would be catastrophic. Also, the March break is the last opportunity to make use of the winter road to stock up on food and fuel. Winnipeg is 14 hours away on the winter road…the potential for someone contracting the virus while in Winnipeg needs to be taken into account.
If they’re isolated communities why do you need tax payers money to give to them? Your going to pocket that money just like all the other covid tax payers money being willfully given out. I’m sick of driving on pothole roads and having 34% taken off my check. The healthcare system sucks, its basically touch this, feel that, here’s a prescription at twice the cost if payed for it myself. Wtf is going on here? Stop taking money off my check. For these ridiculous reasons.
Very well said. Time for a revolt yet??
Just fine them the billions of dollars they cost the Canadian economy, and let them solve their own problems.
Hopefully Bellegarde gets covid-19 since the chiefs are responsible for under funding their reserves. Take responsibility and fix your own water and sewer. You don’t want to go there Frank Alec scammed the Gov’t.
Why n who is this billion dollars going to again
Doesn’t the millions paid to you guys for access to that land say something ??
GET RID OF THE PIPELINE BLOCKADES!
THIS sounds like a NEW GREEN DEAL for the isolated communities!
Constantly wanting it both ways.
Happy to exploit the blockades to leverage and assert autonomy, by seeking to change all the longstanding rules of the game.
And never giving up the guilt tripping extortion racket of perpetually milking the Canadian teat.
We are patronizing foolishness.
