Retired Navy Admiral William McRaven, who led the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden, explains the risks and benefits of President Biden's decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11 as he faces bipartisan criticism. Admiral Who Led Bin Laden Raid Weighs In On Biden's Afghanistan Withdrawal Plan | Stephanie Ruhle
“and this is far more complicated than someone like me could understand” – why?
@Gregor Heisenhorn LOOOL! don’t be ridiculous. that’s like saying don’t breathe.
@Spring Ranch military dude: civilian oversight. civilian:…i understand nothing *big blank eyes”…me: I see dumb ppl.
@Andra Book Ha! It reminds me of (how I shutter to remember) sitting in a class of young ladies who were advised to bat their lashes and feign ignorance.
Looking over at my darling Georgia peach Mother, I was fixed with a “Don’t do it stare,” after which she then rolled her eyes, sweetly smiled, and winked!
@Andra Book 😝
@Spring Ranch i would have still done it 😉
A good player knows how to read their competition and when to make their play. Never let ’em see your hand… Previous Player or “The Former Golden Shower Prez ”, ” didn’t telegraph his moves, he broadcast them..🤔
@Spring Ranch [They] have a lot on the line.
@Wahta williams Article can be found @NTD
@TheBase1aransas
How so?
BTW: Are you near the whooping cranes? Beautiful fishing!
@Spring Ranch ^5
The TDS is so real with you freaks. It used to be funny. Now it’s just pathetic. Get outta your echo chamber and see what the rest of the world does….
🤔🤔🤔🤔
The mistake was going in, NOT leaving!
well, the country will go back to what it was in 2001… a backwards shithole with insane leaders and a brainwashed population…basically Alabama or Florida.
Raussl 😊
@Raussl
Alabamastan
We left a void in Afghanistan after Russia pulled out in the 80s and look what happened. We learn nothing.
@Jeanne Stapleton
That’s the way of it. I remember Robert Kennedy brought home that fact to some students.
@J Gaffney There is a war the Taliban cannot win, but the US refuses to fight. But the US definitely is in a position to fight that kind of war – they did so in South Korea, Japan and Germany. But that was more than half a century ago, and the US, at that time, had both different politicians and different citizen. At the time of the Vietnam war, the US had already forgotten how to win hearts and minds.
If you develop a nation, instead of pounding it into the ground, or at least after you have smashed it, no matter what your adversaries do, they’ll not be able to achieve anything against you in that nation. Granted, Iraq and Afghanistan aren’t culturally as close to the US as Germany was, but South Korea and Japan were equally different. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. If no way can be found, it’s because there’s no will, not because it’s impossible.
@Florin Jurcovici As immoral as it takes? There is only one way the Taliban lose and that is a position by the US take no prisoners. We tried winning hearts. Then we tried scare and pound. They because ghosts hiding and striking when it best served their purpose.History tells of the many great armies who fail in this region.
@J Gaffney I have not seen any consistent attempt of the US army anywhere in the world to win hearts since decades. It’s no longer how the army functions.
There’s a Mongolian story that I like very much. The sun and the wind inc decided to do a contest, to find out who’s stronger. As they were thinking about how to compete with each other, they saw a man walking along. That gave them inspiration: whoever got the man to take off his coat would win. The wind went first. It blew and blew, until it blew holes into the coat, but as the wind blew stronger, the man just clinged harder to his coat, with not intention to take it off. Eventually the wind gave up. The sun started by shining a bright warm light onto the poor man, still shaking and clinging to his coat. Soon, the man relaxed. The sun increased the heat of its rays, until the man started to sweat. Eventually, as the sun kept shining brighter and brighter, the man couldn’t stand it anymore and took off his coat.
You figure out the moral.
There’s no longer any sun where the US military goes. It’s just wind.
@Florin Jurcovici Yep wind. Unfortunately they don’t even recognize why
Navy Seal Admiral McCraven, job well done on raid. Although retired now, he can be recalled back into service if he is needed.
He also had one of the coolest graduation speech ever
They deserve to come back home with there love one’s, some soldier’s haven’t left there post for years.. I just think some time off or vacation that will help both ways. 🙏
wait what? you actually think that there are soldiers that are on their post for years without getting a day off? Seriously?
Also “their” is not the same as “there”.
Criticism is easy. It is not easy to make a decision that will be risky and will undoubtedly cost more lives. This is a time for support. That seems to be a standard above which Republicans can reach. All decisions have both positive and negative sides. It is more important to refrain from overt criticism than to wait until one sees the results of the decision. Some feel it is patriotic to criticize every decision made by the other party. It isn’t. It is gratuitous and unnecessary by both parties.
A good, compassionate, intelligent leader. A true officer and a gentleman. The job has been done, the costs have been made. Lives have been saved and lost. Lessons have been learned. Wisdom has been sharpened. Time to move on. There’s a country to run and chaos to subvert left behind like never before by the other guy.
😂😂 your ridiculous speech…and yet you still couldn’t help yourself. TDS is serious. Get the help you need. Your family will thank you.
Its the right call , and its way late incoming
Every inner-city and extreme-rural school teacher in America who has witnessed children succeed, graduate and embrace educational/professional advancement in spite of little/no significant parenting, chronically under-funded schools, debilitating racial profiling and “no”, “You can’t”, “we can’t afford that”, excuses they’ve heard all their lives, can tell you much more about a real HERO (each of those kids) than this man. He seems to be earnest and noble but he needs a greater life experience than the US Armed Forces has afforded him.
In the military we’re taught to start with an end goal and work our way back. The problem with the war in Afghanistan is the end goal kept changing and you can’t build a plan on a shifting base of sand. Granted, to quote Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
Lies of WOMas Distraction
Fox News needs to be turned off in military gyms, this will give the chance to stop the FN propaganda
Kudos! You Admiral have made an extraordinary difference!
We need to do something about extremism in our own country.
We are not the world police.
Amazing? The United States ignores the authority of the United Nations Security Council and invades Afghanistan and Iraq; then, long after Bin Laden is killed in Pakistan, Saddam has been hanged, and no “weapons of mass destruction” are to be found in Iraq, Americans excuse their blundering withdrawal from an ineffective war with: “We are not the world police”? No? Definitely NO! The United States refuses to abide by the Rome Statute, (which it signed onto over 20 years ago), and refuses to recognize the authority of the International Criminal Court. America is definitely NOT a “law and order” country!
Dude is a badass – and, apparently, a statesman. A true warrior, not a savage killer. Gotta love his honor….
B. Avery: Navy Seal Admiral. Don’t think for a moment he won’t be recalled. If he is healthy he will be recalled back into service if they need him.
Professional in every way!
He have a professional response . My respect .
A lot of these same heroes are in facebook groups talking down on N’s and talking about they won’t be replaced. Js
And by the way, the American people thank you for the service.
Our footprint was preventing us from accomplishing anything.
