Police responded to a shots fired call when they came across a suspicious RV that paused them to call the bomb squad, resulting in a massive explosion they believe to be intentional. Three injuries have been reported and 20 nearby buildings were said to have been damaged. Aired on 12/25/2020.

@NoneOfYour Beeswax Really? Officers were alert enough to choose to go into buildings warning residents to evacuate. They didn’t wait for other authorities to evaluate the situation. They went into harms way not knowing anything other than a threat of an bomb was made. They didn’t know if it was a prank, an M80 or a freaking dirty bomb. The officers, who started evacuations probably broke quite a few protocols doing so. Because, they acted quickly, lives were saved, injuries were kept to minimum.

I know what my taxes are paying for. Defund the police does not mean get rid of police. It means the specific police divisions are so broken, they need to be dissolved. In Camden, NJ, there was corruption, lack of proper funding (80% of the city is in poverty) and police were ineffective. So the Camden City Police Department was abolished. The State police provided policing in the city until the Camden County Police took over. Camden County Police were funded, by the county, to be the police for Camden. They were able to create the programs necessary to become an effective police force. They even hired some of the Camden officers. They didn’t have to fight to change old, ineffective mindsets. It was set up to be present and participate in the community. Because of the new police force, crime has dropped dramatically. People cooperate with the police. There are still problems because we are talking about extreme poverty, which facilitates crime but it’s nothing like being considered one of the worst crime cities it used to be.
