President-elect Joe Biden will nominate Pete Buttigieg, his one time 2020 rival for transportation secretary. Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., dropped out of the Democratic primary to endorse Biden right before Super Tuesday. Transportation secretary is a key cabinet role, and it comes as the president-elect has promised a renewed focus on climate change as well as rebuilding America's crumbling infrastructure. It’s a stupid way to say it, but prioritizing rail is going to become very important in cutting emissions.
@Elizabeth Henning the big problem with the rail is that you are cutting through a LOT of private property to do so, and many of those people don’t consent to the rail coming through.

A Yale study showed Medicare for All would save 68,000 American lives a year and 272,000 lives over the course of a 4 year presidential term. Mayo Pete dropped out the day before Super Tuesday to stab the candidate that supported M4A in the back. In a very literal sense he chose to sacrifice 272,000 American lives to further his own political career.
