Yes, he’s got a scorched earth strategy going on. Narcissists that are cornered are renowned for this behaviour so it’s no surprise. What is surprising is how many Republicans are willing to go along with it although they must know the outcome and the consequences for their political futures. The Republican Party had a chance to survive and reset back to a semblence of normality (although they’d still have had a long way to go and there would have still been consequences for past behaviour) but they’ve gone in the other direction and I hope that voters never forget this.
Looking from the ouside in as I am doing, this seems to be a set up for an attempt at a possible coup at worst and a complete humiliation of the Republicans at best. I don’t think that a coup would be successful, but it would be devastating for the US should something like that be attempted.
At least the smirk has been wiped off trump’s face. First time in 74 years.
