It’s generous of the Conservative government of Ontario to offer public money to fix the problems of private long term care homes, I hope that Ontarians are OK with private share holders raking in dividends while this is going on.
Exactly! I used to work at Starwood Extendicare, the hardest hit long term care home in Ontario. Management received bonuses to keep it short staffed.
This is a step in the right direction of course….BUT… in the grand scheme of it all, it’s just slapping on a bandaid.
Yup, you can’t force anyone to actually care for others.
Will they be working part time at 2 different homes so they can spread viruses from one place to another? It didn’t just happen in 2020. Aides have to work 2 part time jobs to make a living wage because full time is only available to the few.

Out ‘West’ we are building new facilities that are just for seniors. The biggest hurdle is how to get the ones that don’t want to give up drinking to ‘join the program’ and leave the basement apartments for the low income as intended.

I am an RN who has worked LTC. This is how the first meeting to teach staff how to implement these changes will start- ” You all are already doing this you just need to start documenting it.”
When the staff/client ratio changes I will clap my hands. What they say and what they do have to match.
