Republicans have lost the popular vote 6/7 past Presidential Elections.
In 2016 Trump lost by almost 3 million votes- I don’t know of many countries in the world where you can lose by millions of votes and still become President.
A country where it’s not a popularity contest. That’s why certain states agree to join.
Adam N • So here is the tricky thing about the Electorate college.
There is a cumulative number representing different regions in a State! If enough people vote in that state their vote is the voice of the Electorate and the majority takes all the Electorate votes.
If there is not a large enough majority then that state is at the mercy of it’s Elsctorate’s votes which is a winner take all process.
Our forefathers created the process when we were at war with Britain and incase Britain at the time slipped in favored colonies either by subterfuge or bribes! So now as long as a majority votes the Electorates should not even be as big of a factor as it was in the 2016 election!

That’s because it’s not popularity contest, do you remember civics class in high school? It also keeps candidates from just staying in high population states only to garner their votes and ignore the rest of the country as a result.

All the electorate College has done in the last few decades is stolen the presidency OVER and OVER again from the majority. It needs to go!

It is not easy to change the electoral college. You should not count on that. We need a plan for reforms which is achievable.
