This meant that the republicans could “save face” and say “no evidence” and acquit trump no matter what Schiff said or did… Its not that Schiff did a bad job, but that the court gave a show trial with a pre-recorded verdict.

I agree with removing confederate statues from their locations, but to destroy that part of History… isn’t that what Hitler and his Gestapo did? Didn’t they try to rewrite History through burning books and erasing statues, art works, and other factors of society to which they deemed wrong and challenges with the status quo? 🤔 I prefer to move those Confederate statues into museums to teach about the horrors of history and to learn to live above that. I never had a problem listening and learning about History in its entirely, nor do I shy away about the discussion about racism, sexism, classism and other -isms. It is a touchy subject for so many, but for me that discussion needs to be made and heard so we can get it out of the systems, learn from it and move on. It seems that Trump and Friends want to relive History, while Biden and Friends want to forget about it. Both are wrong about this. We should learn from our History and move onto a better future for all.

They’re all terrible people. But, unlike Trump, we should follow the law. If we do so, there is little on which to prosecute most of them other than to say they have poor and politically motivated judgement. Even McConnell’s blatant efforts to remove sanctions against the Russian oligarch, Deripaska would be difficult to prove as illegal.
That would require proof that Deripaska’s declared intent to build an aluminum plant in Kentucky was expressed as being contingent on McConnell removing sanctions, that McConnell agreed to this, and then acted on this basis.
While McConnell probably did, the burden of proof to prosecute and convict is substantial.
The easiest solution is to just clean the roster by voting these turds out of office.

We have ideals not because that is our natural reality, but because it is worthwhile to fight to make then real. It is up to us as citizens, in every generation but especially now, to ensure that the American dream is made more real.
Does America have equal justice under the law? That’s up to us. When Trump is gone, will people still demand justice for his crimes or will they just breathe a sigh of relief and hope to never speak of him again? We did the latter in the name of unity after the civil war and it was a huge mistake. When Trump is gone, some people will want to paper over what he did and say, “We don’t use the legal system to attack political opponents. Now is the time to move forward, not look back.” I hope there will be huge protests in the street at that moment, demanding justice be served equally.
If Trump’s swamp of cronies is not prosecuted, I pray we at least have a truth commission, like South Africa did after apartheid. What was done should be investigated, known, and denounced as not who we will ever be again.
