NEW YORK (June 1, 2015) – Barbados, the culinary capital of the Caribbean, is bringing its vibrant culture, local influence and signature cuisine to New York City this June at the annual Caribbean Week celebration. From Monday, June 1st to Friday, June 5th, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) will immerse the Northeast region in the island’s rich culture with a selection of cooking demonstrations, a mixology showcase featuring award-winning rums and news from its exciting calendar of events for 2015.

Renowned Barbadian Chefs Michael Harrison and Andre Nurse, and mixologist Jamaal Bowen will create this inside look at the culinary capital’s epicurean offerings.

Hailing from Cobblers Cove hotel, Chef Michael Harrison will showcase his Michelin starred restaurant experience, combining fresh ingredients, Bajan recipes and a modern touch. A veteran of the annual Barbados Food & Wine and Rum Festival, and team captain of Barbados National Culinary Arts Team, Chef Andre Nurse will prepare traditional Caribbean fare with a new wave Bajan twist. The delicious dishes will be paired with island inspired cocktails, served by award-winning Sandy Lane resident mixologist Jamaal Bowen.
