I know conservatives, Ronald Reagan, the Bushes, , Howard Baker, Barry Goldwater, and a courageous Attorney General, Elliot Richardson. They all had their flaws, they all made mistakes, often the apologized for them. They had enough self awareness to know that they could often have done things better. They loved their country and yes, were politicians, but they often took an unpopular risk for the good of the country. In a couple of cases it cost them their jobs.
