Beijing's top lawmaking body, the National People's Congress (NPC), has reportedly passed a wide-reaching national security law for Hong Kong, which many fear could be used to override existing legal processes and further erode the city's civil and political freedoms. CNN's Anna Coren and Steven Jiang report.

Yep, China does what China does best… while everyone is distracted by the media’s propaganda.
@Mandz1888 So your just gonna ignore that trump’s “friend” Roger stone was a member of NXIVM and listed as one of it’s employees? Or the fact that the same flight log’s from Epstein’s plane that show Bill Clinton was on it but never went to Epstein’s island also show trump was on it frequently and spent time on the Island. How bout the fact that the same prosecutor that gave Epstein a sweetheart plea bargain that got him off with solicitation and a 12 hour prison leave 6 days a week for his 13 month sentence was appointed as secretary of labor by trump.
Seriously at this point when it comes to sexual assault in general, and pedophilia in particular there are a lot more ties to trump and his friends than to democrats collectively.
So many communists are here.
Uncle Ed the CCP hate him and want the people too hate him. The MSM Worldwide are reporting bias Nonsense . so everyone gets propaganda and lies about POTUS

You can give your thanks to payment systems, democrats, schools, media and big tech, all trying to have bigger government power and control, with censorship, cancel culture, increasing racial tensions, moving illegal immigrants and so on. It’s kind of embarrassing not to see this by now.
@Banana Farmer lmao sure. You don’t even know why you hate Trump. It’s because CNN told you.
CIA agent have lost their jobs in Hong Kong.
” They take our jobs”
@Great Course Hub did you know you’re a democrat?
@Eugene p I am not a democrat nor am I a republican, I am a person with a Brain that is capable of thinking.
@Simon barrett First of all, HK is already prosperous because of it’s freedom and autonomy and they are already rich and has way more jobs than other parts of China. Just do some research, China’s gdp per capital is $9,000, HK’s is much higher because of it’s special status from other countries.
@Great Course Hub just 1.6% of China gps is Hong Kong. And go down fast as riot has slow the economy. To China same live very poor now accommodation. In China 89% of China own the homes. So how do get to that. You what more to no more.??
HK became a part of Communism China, So sad.
The new world order elites making their moves 🧐
what moves
@Jason Chow Agenda 2030.
Was living in Tianjin, China in ‘97 when Hong Kong reverted back to China from Great Britain… there was a lot more celebrating in China than there was in HK. The HK folks knew what was eventually coming their way.
Is their government cheese better while you’re living in a van down by the river?
Elevated Status – Never said they didn’t (re-read my original post, this time with comprehension). And crowded living quarters is normal in HK and other large Asian cities… has nothing to do with Chinese communist policies.
Eric the Red – It’s “government noodles” and living in a van down by the landfill.
Matt Foley Tianjin is my hometown. I remember I stayed up late to watch the whole ceremony when Hongkong returned to China. It was exciting time.
김부용 – I was a plant manager in TEDA from ‘97-‘00, living in Tanggu. We recruited many bright young people from Tianjin city. Yes, it was an exciting time, even if it’s experiencing growing pains now.
“Human rights, freedom destroyed, liberty” all these crap and then “the stocks actually went up” lmao what a slap in the face
@alenin hmmm…. a simple question did the British treat HK fairly or as dogs or allowed HK residents to vote when under their rule 🙄 oh I forgot how some HKer like to be ruled as subjects …
Jim Rose
You should know the difference between GDP and the stock market.
Ian Law
Hong Kong as a city matters to the US for strategic reasons. But it’s people? I don’t think so.
Ian Law
Actually another reason Hong Kong matters to China is because they have the same nationality hundreds of years ago. Just like how you feel when your neighbors stole your child from you. And for what reason the US cares about Hong Kong? To battle against China like a chess piece.
zjeee
True. Not a life sentence really. Just a normal punishment of not letting you breathe.
HK might be the largest intelligence agency in the world,American ambassy there has abt 2,000 personnel,larger than many of its other ambassies.
Replace “No One” with “EVERYONE” thought China would do this. And THEN you got accurate reporting.
Biggest joke in 2019: Hong Kong’s rule of law
@qx w lmao just look at chop or chaz and the president called them terrorist that need to be bombed lmao hypocrisy
@Stone Li
Everyone Else: FREE HONG KONG!
You: b-But gEorgE fLoyD
@Burdy there is no requiremment for universal suffrage in the agreement, China changed the rule try to grant that. Also national security is handled by Central government in the agreement. Google is a US company, why not do some Google first.
You are a joke!
@Stone Li hahahahahahaha…..so true
its interesting in hearing this it reminded me of US Patriot Act where so called courts and laws are run in secrecy with no jury….
The grand jury is an abomination that is only used in 2 countries on the world….. You don’t even know what charges you’re on! Not even North Korea has this!
DOUBLE STANDARD
Notice how the USA is not even remotely relevant anymore?
The stock market went up over this? 😂 The ruling class should learn not to be so brazen
That’s just basic economics why its a terrible thing for the people of hong kong and democratic values. But this will mean a lot of the uncertainty about the hong kong economy will go away, people are more likely to invest in an economically stable place if the protest were resolved in a non-authoritam or oppressive way the stock market still would go up. Don’t think this is an endorsement of the bill its a dark day for hong kong and democracies all over the world.
Well prepare for China market to fail in the long run. No more companies choosing Hong Kong as workaround to mainland China.
Wow, CIA and NSA will definitely not feel happy about this. According to the new law assets of the company could face up to life sentence if caught in HK.
Communists can’t understand the meaning of “Freedom of Speech”.
So happy that I could not go to sleep. Thanks, China, for saving my home city from a year of violent colour revolution.
Hong Kong will soon become Shenzhen !
Good.
With luck only🙏🏻
America lost a playing card against China. Sorry, Hong Kong is a part of China. It’s none of your USA business. You already have your own national security law.
