Roseau, Dominica – Thursday, September 4, 2014 – A six week hospitality training course for young people of the South-East of Dominica got underway on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Waitikubuli National Trail Research and Interpretive Facility in Pond Casse. Fifty-six (56) young people will take part in the training course which will focus on bartending, housekeeping, food and beverage services and customer relations. The training is organized by the Employment and Small Business Support Agency of the Ministry of Employment, Trade, Industry and Diaspora Affairs.
Minister for Employment, Trade, Industry and Diaspora Affairs Honourable Dr John Collin McIntyre called on the participants of the hospitality training course to partner with government to ensure its success.
“This is a partnership between the Government, between the Ministry, between the Dominica Labour Party and you and you must make sure that you partner properly in this programme from the point of view that take it seriously and help us in this partnership to sustain you. We are very serious about that,” Minister McIntyre stated.
Minister McIntyre encouraged the participants to take advantage of the opportunity to better themselves for the future. He further stated that government would continue to create the avenues so that they could further develop their skills and put what they learn to good use.
The participants for the training come from the constituencies of Grand Fond, LaPlaine, Castle Bruce and Salybia.
