Ha. There was actually, in the real world, nothing wrong with the call. The entire episode after was to distract and impede Trump and anyone working for him. They released the transcript nearly immediately. Odd that the media and the left would call for that investigation but be totally incurious about how Biden went there and forced them to fire the person looking into shady dealings by Burisma. No quid pro quo there, though. Joe only bragged about it on camera and offered zero reasons why he demanded it. Couldn’t be that his son had a million dollar a year job with that company. A job that seemed to require very little of his time and no prior experience. I’d like one of those, please.
Rome didn’t last forever. Sadly, we are seeing the end of our Republic. It is obvious that Trump is comprised by Putin. I think Mitch and others are as well. Republicans have no leg to stand on. Look at the state of the Nation at the beginning and end of the Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama and Trump administrations. It is obvious that Republicans are bad for the Republic.
@omi god You cannot have obstruction of justice in the face of no crime having been committed. They had nothing after all that time and money spent investigating. The only reason they worded it in that cumbersome language is because the entire thing was a biased, partisan fishing expedition and they hoped that people would later confuse that verbiage into meaning that they were pretty sure something bad happened but that the evidence was hidden from them. A pity anyone falls for it. they had nothing or they would have broadcast as far and wide as all the leaks they engineered to the compliant media.
John Malloy : Trump still denies Russian interference. He says it could have been “anyone, not necessarily Russia”. He has repeated that many times on camera.

@Langdon Alger Funny, he’s gone nearly an entire term without starting a war anywhere. He’s a businessman first. He understands that nobody wins in a war. China does, too and wants a war with us even less than we want one with them. This is just like when Reagan refused to play by the Russian’s rules and applied pressure. They did not expect it and neither did the ChiComs. Trump will force them to negotiate, doing so from a position of strength, not as a supplicant. Biden would let China run roughshod all over us.

Redjalapeno, I agree. That’s why, imo, though I hope Chump gets soundly beaten, it is just as important to flip the Senate. If the GOP retain their Senate majority, they will simply block every Biden policy, like they blocked Obama. And we simply cannot have McConnell left to continue nominating “conservative” judges to the courts, especially SCOTUS.

Think if every defendant had the ability to fire as many prosecutors as he or she wanted in a court trial until the defendant found one most advantageous to their acquittal. How long would it be before the rule of law was completely repudiated and daily life dissolved into a series of struggles to merely survive?

The thing that a lot of people miss is the danger for the future. Trump is a stupid child, doing this for petty self interest. But a future president can use this to inflict real damage. The people who are OK with this because they like Trump, will cry when its someone they don’t like.
Even in the 19th century the corruption between the two rivals of this two party state have been in evidence. It was never about what is good for the American people. The corruption is endemic and has always been there.
As B Franklin said, “A Republic, if you can keep it.” It was always going to be tough, but if Trumpism is the alternative, then we have to go on fighting for democracy, worldwide. Trumpism is spreading globally.
