Florida is still not “closed up”, and Spring Break wasn’t really the issue. Some news cameras filmed people on the beaches, and ran with the “Spring Break” story, but Florida’s real issue is its workforce. As a “right to work” state, there are virtually no unions and pay is low. Employers offer cash under-the-table to (sort of) offset the low wages, and to avoid payroll taxes. Thus, a substantial part of the workforce isn’t on anybody’s books anywhere, and therefore would not be able to collect any kind of unemployment or “stimulus” money. They’re keeping them working so they don’t starve and riot. Meanwhile, the death toll keeps climbing. They also have a pretty strong consortium of businesses that fly undocumented Guatemalans in and out of the country on a six to eighteen month rotating basis, and provide them with fake IDs. Those who are here during the pandemic are stuck here, but their employers don’t want them trying to collect unemployment with the fake IDs they gave them. Every single politician in/from this state is very much aware of this.

In today’s briefing (4/9/2020) Trump again misled the public. He said the US has tested over 2M people. 2.4M tests have been administered as of today. True statement but misleading. We have only tested 0.76% of our population (327M). South Korea confirmed its first the same date as the US. S.K ramped up their testing rapidly. To date, they have done 750,000 tests. That is equivalent to 1.46% of their population. Also, they put restrictions on their people. Their quick actions quickly slowed down the spread of COVID-19. Our President’s denial and lack of action made us #1 in the world in cases and today we became #1 in deaths related to COVID-19. The US accounts for 28.6% of the cases and 16.7% of the deaths worldwide. Action says a lot about a person’s ability to lead and inaction or delayed action says even more about a person’s inability as a leader. One out of 3,700 Americans has died from COVID-19.
Having some states lock down and some states not locked down is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool.

GetoFly 313 Yes, the key is that you have to be diagnosed with COVID-19 before you die for them to determine that you died of COVID-19. People who were not tested and who they do not know what they have, their death certificate lists that they died from pneumonia or something similar.

@N LX I really wish that worked in America! I wish America had actual rules instead of suggestions because a solid 90% of people in this country are not wearing face masks… At all. Jobs that are deemed essential are mostly not essential, people also get scolded for wearing PPE that work in public service. They still have pen factories running, factories that make safety harnesses for building skyscrapers running… Pretty much everything except for dine in food service. There is only a very small portion of our country covered on news outlets.
