Trump was offered test kits from Germany in early January and refused as he did not want it to affect his reelection.

Graham Campbell , I am a born Canadian living in England, we have universal health care paid by national insurance taken out of wages. It works for us and universal healthcare works for the majority of European countries. Why is the US so afraid of civilized healthcare for all.

@Sue Smith That’s still better than the American system where people can’t afford to go to the doctor when they’re sick. I read about a man who, before he knew about coronavirus, was in China for business and when he got back to the US he started getting symptoms and found out what that might mean. He wanted to do the right thing, so he went to the hospital where they immediately isolated him after he told them what had happened and did the nasal swab and blood test. They found he was not infected, so sent him home. Then he got the bill for over $3,000. Really encourages people to go to the doctor, doesn’t it? Now they say the test will be free for everyone (if you can get it), but you have to pay for your own treatment.
